A Legend of Zelda maker wouldn't do as well in this regard, due to its theme, since most players wouldn't be as familiar with the more subtle mechanical differences, as they play less of a role. Their place is entirely subsumed by ways of delivering discreet mechanics, because of the central focus on items, and the level designer and gameplay are hampered thereby, because items usually have less subtle and more binary uses to solve movement or objective puzzles, and making interesting gameplay out of them requires more focus, and many early decisions as to what is and is not allowed to the player. Unless, of course, you want to add a lot of the cool glitches from LoZ games. I highly doubt superswimming or Z-sliding or bomb jumping would be there. :D
