Well well its that time again... Relay For Life is a charity organization dedicated to helping find a cure against cancer, and to help raise money for it. It is headed by the American Cancer Society. I (and APASU- the Asian Pacific American Student Union) plan to hold a good old Super Smash Brothers Melee tournament deemed rightfully: SMASH FOR LIFE '07!!!

First Place: A Nintendo Wii
Second place: Pink/Coral DS LITE
Third Place: 50$ GiftCard

So if you've wanted a Wii, but couldn't find one, here's your chance to win one! As long as you think you are game enough!!

Well is done. And I was proud of the whole ordeal. It was fun all around. SO I bet you want the results.

The stats for the tourny:
Registration 11AM. Tourny 12:15PM
Singles only. Entrance Fee: 15$ Venue(including pizza + drinks): 5$- so 20$ total.
26 Entrants. 8 TVs and systems. 3 Top prizes. And one hell of a ride.

First Place: Wii - ChuDat
Second Place: PINK/Coral DS Lite: TheDoug
Third Place : Ether - $50 Gift Card To GameStop
Fourth Place: CStick - A happyending from Kitsune :laugh:

5th: FTZ, Cow
7th: WTF?/Dean, JWoo
9th: Mashi, Ndn, Drty Sanchez, Kitsune
13th: Krad, Ivar/ShutUpYohFace, SchoolieDee, BurningDuck
17th: Aurora, Fox, Wolf, LAME, CPU, QUYZ, Phil, R3N0
25th: BoA, Sylvester

And that's how it ends. Be on the look out for the next SMASH 4 Life Tourny!!! (If Smash Bros Brawl turns out to be as great as this game i.e. not broke like SSBM 64, then I might hold another Wii tourny for that.)

surprised there aren't many posts T-T well this is gonna be the best Smash for Life to date.. since the prizes are pretty sweet.

any idea how many setups we'll have?

Ok. SO the tourny has been back to the 7th, APril 7th.
The location is pending: Either at ODU or Founder's Inn off of indian river road.

Game rules and all still apply. No change.

I vote for ODU. Seems like we'd automatically receive more attention from smashers there if we start putting up flyers all around campus. My only concern is, would it be against school policy to have a competition like this with such an expensive prize?

Also, is possible for me to somehow win 1st AND 2nd place? Cuz I could use both a Wii and a DS. Like, if I take 1st place, and the 2nd place dude throws a tantrum and quits--is that like, a bye? No, I suppose that even if it is, then 3rd place would move up to 2nd place. =(

ROFL. I have a feeling that this is going to be a good one. Right now Im working on the location, because the VA beach Higher Ed center closes at 5:30 p.m. as in locked doors. I personally don't mind a smash lock in, but they do. SO we need to look at a different place. I was thinking of a rec-center type place, that's basically just an empty room. There is one close to Ferrell Parkway/Princess Anne. And maybe the founder's Inn. Just looking at all the prices and paper work. If all else fails, I'll host it at my house.

This is gonna be great. Trash talk a little bit and they come in waves.

But really. I could use a DS or a Wii. I'm gonna play some Xenosaga and then practice up.

But yeah I never heard of you "Ether" and since you're int eh MD/VA area, if I were you, I wouldn't bet on getting placed very high if anyone shows up. =P

(not me, I suck, if I show up it's just to support the cause, however I wouldn't mind a friendly MM or two)

But if I have to be the first to say it, I will be...

Whats the likely hood of there actually being a wii prize?

Azen won a tourney, and the prize was supposed to be a wii, but when he told them to give his wii to Kaiser, there was not a wii at the tourney and then afterwards at no point did Kaiser recieve his wii...

How can we be expected to believe that you're going to have a wii, a Ds lite, and all the other crap you're saying you're going to have?

ATM I haven't seen many people post, which means you really ca't guarentee a big turn out.

Like that dude frozen, his fests have fairly large turn outs... as in have 30 plus people, but even with that many the prize pot only gets to about 100 bucks for first...


If I can be sure I'd not be endorsing some sorta bull **** tourney, or even worse a scam, I'd certainly PM some people (basically all of TA, plus azen, chillin, chu, the weds, etc) to be there for the cause, but just at the risk of my own crappy reputation I can't do that just yet until I hear how you're expecting to have such prizes at hand.

(even if I PM them it doesn't mean it's at ALL certain they'll all come, but it'd certainly be good if they knew about it insteadof it flying totally under the radar)

rest assured, the prizes will be there. i drove him to the wal-mart on the day he got it so yes, the wii is 100% guaranteed.

...either in smash via mass amount of 3-stocks, or with a knife in the parking lot if i were to come up short of first place. Your choice. :lick:
