I seem to have alot of trouble fighting smaller characters then yoshi, does anyone have any tips/advice on approaches and strategies? I tend to revert to spamming bair alot:ohwell:

so are all of your tilts,

dont use other arials too much but feel free to bair and nair. or the situatonal fair and uair, but not just to rack up damage (a lage amout of small chars have good arial game as far as i know)

bigggest tip:just practice in training mode to see what attacks work and dont work based on size

I think the big issue Yosh has with small characters is his high short-hop, making landing his aerials a bit harder (especially against Kirby :/). Stick to your ground game, mix in some b-airs/d-airs and use your eggs a LOT.

Yeah kirby's are annoying due to their size, and when they duck they get really small so my RAR Bair becomes a useless luxury as I can only land one tail hit, I try to get them in the air where yoshi excels, otherwise I use the tilts for sure due to their reach and get out of my face potential.

It honestly depends on the matchup. For example against kirby, his air game is much better than yours, so try and stay grounded, lots of pivot grabs and eggs, etc. In general, against small characters, what they said, tilts, nair, but there isnt like one way to fight small characters.

Just another day.
Stay grounded (tilts) , and take advantage when you can hit the b-air completely. You can actually rush in and N-air them since it has a long hit animation. I use it and land on their back side so that I don't get too much punishment from it. Eggs and the egg roll will be your friend too.

:yoshi: Lots of people here have the right idea.

Forward tilt on its own is usually enough to handle any problems you have with tiny characters, but watch out for rogue moves like Kirby's re-amazing forward smash and the like.

metaknight requires a precise spacing game. grabs are invaluable in that match-up, as are eggs =)

Yeah MK's not all that bad to fight, his tornado whenever I'm sucked in I just mash A and usually a Nair will come out inside the tornado and kick MK out of it. As for his gliding attack or after he completes his loop just Bair it, from what I've noticed one tail whip cancels it out then the rest are just free hits. This'll usually take MK's two "best" attacks out of the game.
