I'm having a bit of an issue with my 4-year-old laptop; the problem arose recently and I'm not sure why.
Sites like this one would load really slow in Firefox and Google Chrome -- often taking around 45 seconds to load a thread on a fast connection -- but this isn't a problem with this site, but other web sites as well with longer page times.
Whenever I open something Flash-related (like a Xat or a youtube player), the youtube video is often choppy in terms of video, but the sound is perfectly fine. Similarly in the Xat, whenever I would type something, it would often come about 2 seconds after I pressed the key.
I've checked the anti-virus and anti-malware scanners and they've showed nothing. I've got a 1.67GHz processor and 4GB of RAM.
