MLG (Major League Gaming) does not endorce modding Wiis. MLG owns Smash World Forums, therefore you shall not speak of modding Wiis in anyway on this forum. If you need help with the modding of your Wii, installing Homebrew or the like then please Google it and get the help you need.
Should this rule be scrapped then?

That lack of that rule could potentially get the boards closed, couldn't it? Talking about Homebrew and stuff could be seen as piracy and get the whole place shut down... Right?

Homebrew doesn't break anything, technically.

It's stuff like USB Loading and backup loading that could get you into trouble.

Seeing as there are several sites on the internet about this stuff that have never been shut down I don't think it's an issue. At this point I think Wii hacks are the last thing on Nintendo's mind, and they were far from the first to begin with.

2013 and people still associate homebrew with piracy?

I don't. I'm saying others may. It itself isn't but it can be used to support pirate-y programs.
And just because other places have not been shut down doesn't mean it's still a problem.
Obviously Homebrew isn't the only thing under this rule. In fact "modding" may mean switching parts inside your Wii and whatnot.

Something in the back of my head tells me that we may have to keep this rule for the time being and promote the hackless method since you don't have to permanently softmod your Wii and anyone wanting to do further modding or want to use USB loading or backup loading should just be redirected to another site like gbatemp, or something.

Better safe than sorry in this case IMO.
