Who is Tatsuya Suou?

Tatsuya Suou is the (mostly) silent protagonist of Persona 2 Innocent Sin, a party member and major character in Persona 2 Eternal Punishment, and the protagonist of Persona 2 Eternal Punishment PSP's Additional Scenario. He is an 18 year-old student attending Seven Sisters High School in Sumaru City, when rumours begin to become real. He awakens to the persona Vulacanus, and sets out to stop the Joker, who seems to bear a grudge against Tatsuya, despite Tatsuya not knowing him.

Why Should Tatsuya Be In Smash?

When Joker was added to Smash Ultimate in Challenger Pack 1, he came with content from throughout the Persona series. However, this content was entirely focussed on the modern Persona games (3-5), with Persona 1 having one song - Aria of the Soul (which is based on its Persona 3 remix, and doesn't change Mementos' appearance) and one spirit - Igor (using his Persona 5 artwork). Persona 2 Innocent Sin and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment have no content whatsoever. Adding Tatsuya as a character, along with music and spirits from the earlier Persona games, would be the best way to increase the amount of Persona content in Smash. This is because he is the most fleshed-out Protagonist in the series (joint with Maya Amano), with a backstory and set personality. Additionally, he represents a currently unrepresented era of the series, and as a major character in multiple games, he represents this era better than most other characters.

Tatsuya is also a popular character, especially among long-time fans of the series, and has a large amount of personality and moveset potential.

Moveset Potential

Tatsuya's main weapon is a sword, which could be used for his standard attacks. However, he can also use the power of Persona, and is able to summon a large variety. His main Personas are Vulcanus, Vulcanus Prime and Apollo. Vulcanus specialises in fire based skills, and Apollo specialises in fire and nuclear skills.

When using Apollo, Tatsuya's signature move is called Nova Kaiser. This attack temporarily stops time, before Apollo creates a supernova explosion, dealing nuclear and light damage.

Final Smash

Tatsuya's final smash would likely be Grand Cross / Dragon Cross, depending on if he is using his Innocent Sin or Eternal Punishment design. These attacks are fusion spells, and require Tatsuya and all other party members to use their ultimate personas' signature moves on the same enemy at the same time. This attack deals high almighty damage, and could either be a cutscene final smash, or an AOE final smash.

Yeah, I made this as more of a "this is my absolute most-wanted character, who can never happen" kind of thing.

I'm just surprised anybody even replied to it. Unless there's somehow a Persona guessing game thing or something, I doubt this thread will be massively active.

New renders as part of the 25th anniversary stuff dropped today. I'm looking forward to seeing the full versions of these, but any Persona 2 content makes me happy at this stage.

There's no way this is ever happening, but it would be really cool, which is why this exists.

Don't say that, I'm sure one of the new projects is a big Persona 2 duology remake, which will sell like hot cakes and make it very popular to the point we will have Tatsuya in Smash 6...

And yeah, I couldn't resist changing my avatar. Maya deserves it. It might last only for a while tho.

Would be really cool if one of the announcements for the anniversary was P2-related, specially a remake or remaster of the PSP remakes, with Eternal Punishment PSP finally localized.

I'm the same with Tatsuya. I'm importing some of the merch, and the only thing I got that only featured 1 character was a Tatsuya keychain. I'd definitely like to see remakes for both games, but that's the best scenario for those games, so it's an unlikely option. I'd take ports with a few additions at this point, because historically they haven't touched P1 and 2 that much, so anything would be a win.

I haven't played P1 yet to be honest so maybe that's why I said a remake. But I'd take anything as I said.

P5 Arena with characters from all the games but that feels more unlikely, I'd assume the cast would be small and they would give priority to the most popular characters, each one requiring a completely unique moveset.

That's kinda the case with Q3 as well, but I think that would be the best chance for P1/P2 characters to show up in a spin off.

I've played the remake version so I don't think I have heard this version of the song.

Maybe I'd do songs every 3 days or so? One each day might be too much, but one each week might be the opposite.

I prefer the original soundtracks, so I'll mostly be posting them. I'm genuinely struggling to think of a song I prefer in the remakes. Maybe Sumaru City?

And every 3 days sounds like a good balance between not being to often or too infrequent. I can guarantee I'll forget within 2 weeks though.
