Side-step, air-dodge, and rolling appear to share the same mechanic

In the earliest video of Ridley versus Samus, the second player, N8, uses a roll twice in the beginning. Samus' first roll is 38 frames, while her second roll is 42 frames. This may confirm ZeRo's impression that when he air-dodged MkLeo during the grand finals, the air-dodge took longer due to each dodging function shared the same mechanic. ESAM made a video yesterday about how he has hopes for Dark Samus, since her roll is a normal roll. He also mentioned the angle of Dark Samus' dash attack, although I've been mentioning that since Nintendo Direct 8/8/2018. Anyway, I decided to watch Dark Samus use her roll backwards and she had 42 frames. That's not as good as Samus' 38 frames.

Well, here's where it gets interesting. Before Dark Samus even rolled, she used an air-dodge. Air-dodging frames are likely to be different from rolling frames, but considering all you see is her air-dodge and then roll, only to end up with 42 frames like Samus' second roll ending up with 42 frames may confirm what ZeRo thought all along. (Dark Samus' initial roll might also be 38 frames if this is true.) I haven't bothered to see every character perform some dodging method to see how much increase there would be for them when they use any of the dodging options. All I know is that from Samus' 38 frames to 42 frames, that's ~10.53%, or ~4 frames for every side-step, air-dodge, or roll.
