Should I buy a Nintendo Wavebird?

I'm thinking oh buying a Wavebird Gamecube controller, but I wanted to see what you guys thought of them first. Now the thing is I'll would be playing it on a Wii not Gamecube, and I've heard Online with a Wavebird isn't to good, I also have heard it doesn't have any rumble, otherwise I've heard it's a great controller.

I can confirm the lack of rumble, but other than that, it's a great controller. I've never had any issues with online when using it.

Back when I had a Wavebird I used it to the point of literally wearing the pad off the control stick. (For perspective, it had Wind Waker stickers on it from... I think before it came out because the layout looked different but I could be remembering wrong)

It lasts forever lol

I never noticed the lack of rumble, and if you take it to any sort of tournament it might not be allowed (because wireless interference blah blah), so be careful of that.

Also, you'll run through a ton of AAs. Not because the battery life is bad (it's pretty darn good IIRC), but because you'll use the controller a lot.

They don't allow Wavebirds at tournys?

Yeah that's true, is there any rechargeable battery for the Wavebird like there is for Wii motes? Or how well do rechargeable AAs work in the Wavebird?

I've only used my wavebird for playing GameCube for the past.... eleven years is it now? Haven't changed the batteries once.

If you can get your hands on one it is the best way to play GameCube if the lack of ruble doesn't annoy you.

Never had an issue with online when using a Wavebird other than the usual issues that's non-controller related.

As for batteries, a set of aa's will last ages.

With wireless controllers being banned from some tournaments it's for a number of reasons. Probably the biggest is to remove people complaining about interference from wireless devices affecting it. Another reason is that wavebirds, unlike wiimotes, aren't synced, they just have 16 preset channels which means that some random in the crowd might bring theirs and put it on the same channel as you to mess with you mid-match, or alternatively, you could use that person to play the match for you with you pretending to play.

I can't say for sure. But if you're playing on playing Brawl online good luck with that. Expect massive lag out the *** no matter what you're using.
IKR! Online Brawl sucks, I hope they do better online for Smash4.

Aren't Wavebird controllers really hard to find, or are there online stores that still have them in stock?
If you have one close to you I've seen them at Vintage Stock before. And you can get them on Amazon and Ebay.

That's not as bad as I thought. I've been wanting one for a while. I might try and see if I can hunt down a controller or two myself.

The lag you heard about is just from it being wireless, but it shouldn't screw you up anymore than Brawl's lag would.

+1 on Wavebird, I still use it when I don't want to sit close to the TV.

I used a wavebird in Melee, and not long before Brawl came out I lucked out in a random electonic store that had a new one in stock, so stored it away for BRawl.

There's fun things you can do when you have 2 (or more!) receivers.
