In my experience with Samus, she can **** the tall fat characters like DK, ROB, Bowser, DDD, Snake, Ike, Ganon etc.

But she has real trouble dealing with shorties like Diddy, Kirby, Luigi, MK, TL, Olimar.

What, if anything can she do to beat these characters? What moves work?

I usually play two good kirbies where I practice, and yes it's real hard against the shorties. They can hit you with ease, and often have faster, lagless moves compared to samus, and here we try to hit them and everything misses.

Moves generally not good to use or hard to pull off:
Bair and Zair (unless they are in the air) - They are just too short. You'll usually miss
Untilted smashes/tilts - You'll go over their head.
Smash Missiles - Goes over their head. And has lag.

One thing to always do is remember to tilt your tilts. Tilt your forward titlt down when they are on the ground as well as your forward smash. And tilt it up when they are in the air.

Nair is good too. Very fast. And sets up well for down tilt.
Homing missiles gets them in the air.

Morph ball bombs are good because the characters are short and know you have trouble fighting close range. They will be rushing you, so MBB throws off their rhythm.

A very effective move against Kirby is the down tilt, which you should save until he's over 100%.

Yeah Kirby is a *****.

I played Chu Dat at a tournament and it didnt take me long to figure out that my normal playstyle wasnt gonna work at all.

think about it
-each cg does 60%ish damage and puts her off level
-standing infinite
-cgs kill spacing
-dtilt kos don't start until 160+% without DI and you basically have to get in grab range to use her ko moves (except charge shot)
-his uair outpriortizes dair, and he shouldn't get spiked in a match
-he can ko samus way earlier than she can ko him

he does get hit with spam really hard though... but its basically all you can do (and ledge camp) in the match lol

rob i would put at about 60-40 rob too


... but yea, short characters suck lol a lot of her bad matchups are concerned with the other players ability to get around brickwalls i think...
squirtle and sonic a are hard matchups for her too imo ^^

Well if King DeDeDe doesn't use his CG, he's not as big of a threat. The only problem then would be his weight. And I don't mean it like that. Personally I think all grab infinites should either be limited or banned. It'd change the match up, that's for sure. Even the slightest changes count.

Dedede wasn't too hard because Samus can pretty much stay out of his way and spam missiles and plasma shots. Upair to Up B too. I agree inifinites and cgs should be banned.

Sonic is tough, but you can stop A LOT of his moves with your missiles and charge shots

Don't ***** it out, and D-tilt isn't the best move to kill him with. Unless you time it right, you shouldn't be risking it anyway.

You have to time your D-airs. Not just throw them out there and leave yourself open. And spiking Dedede isn't that hard.

Jabs. Tilts. Smashes. Projectiles. Dash Attacks. F-air. D-air. Z-air. U-air. B-air. Grabs. Screw Attack. You should try these moves when facing him.

While R.O.B. can ****, Samus could **** him right back. Z-airs, projectiles, D-airs and F-airs can break through most of his moves if timed right. I personally think the match is 45-55 in R.O.B.'s favor, but it might be even closer than that.

Short characters, while threatening, can be handled when you play smart. SH D-air is sex against any characters, but it's pretty useful on them. Low Charge Shots also hit them, and in Sonic's case, stop their momentum. U-tilt ***** the likes of Olimar, Squirtle, and a few others. Finally, using D-smash to clear your space, or even score KO's(the smaller and lighter, the better odds of launching them). Z-airs, projectiles, and B-airs should be used more when they are in the air. Grabs work, too, if you can get in range.
For the record, I'm sorry if I came off as harsh, sweetie.

I will admit small characters are pains in the ***. Yet ironically, some of them, like Olimar, are some of my easiest match-ups.

don't get grabbed is sooooo impossible its not even funny you'd have to avoid his large grab range the entire game pretty much ^^

How can you possibly say Olimar is your easiest matchup? JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING he does outprioritizes and outranges us.

Turn on either a level 8 or level 9 comp and try and tell me that's easy. Just think what a human would be like.

You're saying "Don't Get Grabbed" and you're suggesting moves like Jabs, Dash Attacks, Grabs and Screw Attack. Those moves are so unsafe on block/spot dodge...if you miss YOU GET GRABBED. I'm sure that DDD can grab you out of any of your smash attacks or tilts as long as he power shields it or you don't space it perfectly. Honestly, I think DDD ***** Samus really really hard, one grab = one stock and you're dealing with a character with the second longest grab range in the game (excluding tether grabs)
