Short Illusion?

I was playing with Fox in training mode, and I used Illusion. I pressed over b immediately after the flash and held it, and he went an extremely short distance. Falco can do this also. I played around with it, and I found out you can control how long Falco's Phantasms are with this. I couldn't figure out how to control them with Fox, though. Sorry if this is old, or people already know about it.
