I was wondering about the learning curve for short hopping. I just have been starting to learn and can do it very now and then but still have problems with the delicate touch. How long did it take you guys to get it down enough where it helped you alot? or any advice you could give? Thanks

fortunately tho, he has an upb that gets him back onto the stage...although yoshi's got just defend and parrying so who knows who coulda been the better one. of course i prefer ness to yoshi because his djc is tighter and his spike is better than yoshi's. and of course his taunt cancel is easier to do :)

hah jesus, thats crazy. His laser shots are almost back to back, like the interval between the two are so little. How does that happen? I know you said button slide, but I don't quite get it. button slide to what?

you slide your thumb C button (preferably left C) to B button , your thumb will feel the pain after an entire match doing this , or maybe there's another way but then I dont know it.

oh , its Isai's Fox by the way

You should know it is not easy to do a full forward jump and shoot two lasers. It is only possible if you press B 1 frame before Fox leaves the ground.

It's impossible to do a full backwards jump and shoot two lasers.

You can do a limited horizontal moving jump pretty easily.

how about for just non-directional jump straight into the air? how many can you get in? I've been playing around with it and the faster I push B, the laser shots I get in. But when I do that, I'm playing mario party and not super smash (concentrating only on pusshing a button rather than fighting)

Theres gotta to be a specific timing for it, right?

I don't get how to short hop... Is it just tapping Up on the analog? On the Advanced Terms Guide thingie it said something like pressing up button for short amount of time. >.>

Yes there is a timing, you shouldn't mash.

Jump. Wait 5 frames. Press B. When the laser comes out of the gun press B again.

Of course there are different timings to do it. But this one seems easy to explain.

Can effective button sliding replace short hopping?

And if you had to rate advanced techniques, where would short hopping be placed with teching, z-canceling, rolling, buttonsliding, anything liek that

first off , rolling isnt an advanced technique. About rating , I would say advanced techs is a whole behavior. you can't prefer one over another one , you have to use each of them as wisely as possible
