umm. this one effects CK the most, but today apparently a crazed gun man went through Alabama shooting up the place. he killed his relatives than just went down the street killing people that were out and about.

Gun control wouldn't fix situations like this. If someone is going to murder people, seemingly at random, he will find a weapon, whether acquiring it legally or otherwise, and do what he wants to do. All gun control does is disarm those who are qualified and capable of defending themselves and are responsible enough to understand the implications of using a weapon.

These cases always spur "LET'S BAN GUNS!" but all that will happen is you will either A. unarm the population who follows laws anyway, or B. make outlaws of everyday, law-abiding citizens.

The way to fix problems like this is to find the root cause and stop it at it's source.

I'm not in favor of banning guns, but I think a lot of people who buy guns are the dumb people who think they're some sort of urban warrior who actually believes them owning a gun will help them fight off a mugger or someone else with a gun who wants to kill them, believing for some moment that someone who wants to kill them will wait long enough for them to pull out their own gun.

I think that, in a lot of cases, if someone is going to get murdered it doesn't matter if they own 14 machine guns and are ex-marines, or if they're ten years old and can't lift twenty pounds, and that the best defense is good running shoes. So when things like this come up, I get annoyed at all the "give them more guns" "ban all guns" stuff, because neither would affect anything. Banning all guns would only work if we could actually get rid of illegal guns, which is silly to think that, in America, we could. in Australia/UK, where they're an island? sure. In America? nah. too big, too much open border, too many guns already here.
