Hey there.

Just wanting to know, how exactly do you shine a fox or falco out of their fox/falcofire?

I can do it occasionally, but I'm not exactly sure why I succeed and fail randomly.

There's no specific way for doing that. You just have to sort of get a feel for the timing. If you do it right, it would result in Fox/Falco getting knocked off the stage. If you mess up, then you'll just get hit by it. I think you'll be able to tell if you did it right or not.*sarcasm intended*

A tip for this on Falco is that his startup animation doesn't burn you like fox's, so you can jump at the falco while the falco is charging up and shine without fear of it being interrupted.

The thing that i wasn't using last night lain, and how i normally do it is to grab the edge and use ledge invincibility. I was just having issues getting on the edge fast, but that's how it's done, from the edge, you can either shine or bair, so it's good. And w/ falco, there's no hitbox surrounding the firebird while it's charging, so shine away.

You hit down on the control stick and then you press the B button (its the small red one).

yeah lain, usually using bair is better to interrupt a firefox. (nair works too) scotu is right when he says use ledge frames, just make sure to ledge stall to get the timing right.

you're not funny.

Ledge invincibility is the easiest way to get it (especially if they are below you). You can also jump out and shine a fox before he flies off if you get there fast enough, its much easier while he's still charging. Other than that its fairly hard, though I find falco easier to shinespike.

lmao. this is all you'll need to know.

andd lain, falco especially is very vulnerable off stage, so if youre near the sides of the stage, throw him off, and he'll do something predictable. and you can wait at the edge to guard, or go for the shine.

i mean i KNOW you can do it while invincible, but there has to be something to hitting them during their firefox while not invincible.

maybe they'd have to be inside the shine hitbox but outside of you?

uh, yeah. that's how all moves work. if you want to do it zelgadis style, just practice a bunch, there's no secret technique he's holding back. it's just hard to do, and usually a bair works too.

@divine knigt: wtf? what kind of falcos do you play against? The falcos in SEMI are a little less predictable because they don't want to die.

Lmfao...Wtfplox? -Ignores the post.-

Anyway, I haven't seen a simple straight answer for both Fox and Falco.

Falco: As GoldKirby said, Falco's startup doesn't burn like Fox's. But it does, just not as wide as Fox's range is. Avoid hitting his lower chest, its around the area where it can burn if you get too close. Aim for the head of course, but no need to be precise.
~Try getting to Falco just before he starts charging his Firebird, Falco begins the ascent a couple frames quicker than Fox I think since its shorter ranged. Since you drop fast, make sure you start right when you get in range or 1/4~1/2 second before.

Fox: Simply put, Fox's goes further so its a bit tricky. But if you're in range, go for it, as long as its 1 jump away unless you use your 2nd jump to get closer to the stage AND your target. Remember Fox's shine in mid-air has a couple cooldown frames unless cancelled, so make sure you can FireFfox back.
~In short words, aim for Fox while he jumps back. Way before starting Firefox as possible. But if he starts it and you're already prepared for the jump, make it quick as getting burned while in a shine = bad. Aim for the head or the chest, as long as you get him in that shine sweetspot. (Bottom left and right)
