Hello, I don't main Fox but I have a question for you fox mains out there. I was once playing Falco against my friend's fox and he shinespiked me. My falco then slammed into the wall and plummeted to his doom. As soon as I saw Falco flying towards the wall, I tried to tech but to no avail, it didn't work. I've tried it multiple times but it never seems to work. Now, I can tech somewhat consisently but I've never been able to pull this one off. Is it a tech-able hit?

For all shine fallers (fox, falco, roy, all pokemon, kirby, i think that's it...) it's a techable hit, no matter how or where you are hit. On stage, or as a shine spike into a wall/ edge. Even if you are shined out of your illusion/ phantasm at the edge, you can edge tech it. So, yes, it is techable. (at all %s).

Teching it is how I beat Kush in our Last match YESHH!!! ITS harder to do if you float though because it leaves a little bit more timing options for the opponent

Yeah it's possible... but thats the reason some fox players prefer to drop of the edge and go for the shine spike so that you can't edge tech it.

well, duh we're going to try to do it far away from the edge, but we also do it in ways that you can tech it, so it's worth learning to do.

my friend constantly techs my shinespikes and it makes me a sad panda :(
try to to shine spike him by grabbing the edge first then wait for him to do ilusion or firebird, then just time your shine well so that he doesn't touch the wall (keep in mind that the back part of fox's shine has a little more range than usual) and if manages to tech it somehow >_> why don't you shine spike him again? he should die unless he does walltech>insta ilusion then you should try double shine and he should be dead

He could be doing a wall jump tech, or instant illusion/phantasm to grab the ledge. But if he doesn't do any of those, then yeah just drop down and shine spike him again. You can say something just when you do it or make a noise to make it more fun.

smash DI can allow them to wall tech

but yea, i think its best to do shine firefox stalls if ur trying to ledgedrop shinespike. because when u just jc the shine and fastfall to regrab the edge, u could alrdy be edgehogged. but with that stall like.. u regrab faster.

lol nvm

I said if he does Wall jump instant illusion then> double shine so when he's coming with the Ilusion again he'll get spiked again, get it?

what would be the smash DI for this? If lets say on FD on the left side you are recovery straight up with a fox edge guarding waiting for the shinespike. if it hits right beside the wall do you just smash DI straight to the right?

Simply DI up and right. If you are close enough the tech will work just fine.

in a candaian combo trailer, one of the players techs out of shine or shines out of it. not sure.

heres the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9JHz4xZOl8
Nope, this is what happens:

Manli falls down with a Nair and gen goes for the shine spike then manli does a wall jump after his second jump and gen shinespikes him but his shine resulted in a phantom hit
(a phantom hit is when an attack touchs you, deals you damage but doesn't send you any distance and it could happen with any attack as well, it's just luck a bug from the game) then manli comes back with an illusion after his wall jump(since the shine didn't do anything on him except by damage, he came back as If nothing had touched him) and gen jumps and does another shine but manli techs it into a shine and gen dies.

Just wanted to point that out for you
