Shine Cancelling and L-cancel shine problems

Herro der,

I obviously play falco and I'm having problems with shine cancelling and shining after l-cancelling an A-move (always get shield grabbed even though I'm very sure I'm L-cancelling properly)

When I try to waveshine after a successful shine or if they shield it, I try to cancel the shine with a jump but the jump doesn't work >50% of the time so I just stand there like a ******. Do I have to delay before I jump?

For L-cancelling before shine, my smash partner (Cfalcon) grabs be 50% of the time before the shine comes out. Is there a frame where he can grab me? Am I messing up my L-cancel? Or am i putting my A-move out too early so that the hit box goes away before I can shine so he just grabs me?

Thanks for the help! :3

Okay.

As far as getting shield grabbed, you are more than likely doing the aerial too early, and they are able to grab you after shield stun, but before the shine comes out. Try doing the aerial later, if that is your issue. (Or try to land outside of grab range)

For the waveshine, you probably are trying to jump too fast, you have to factor in hitlag, and the fact that Falco has a weird wavedash(to me, at least) because of the longer jump-squat animation. If you try to jump too fast, it won't register.

Yeah my practice partner suggested that I was throwing out the aerial too early so I guess I'll try doing it later. I guess I'll practice that as well as waiting for the hitlag on thew shine before I wave dash. My problem is that whenever I try to change my timing, I accidentally change the time between jumping and air dodging for the WD so it just screws up my WD.

Thanks for the help :) now I don't have to waste my time figuring it out for myself ^^. I was stuck just avoiding aerials from the front for fear of getting shield grabbed.

Why's it matter when you throw out the aerial for L-cancelling into a shine? As long as it hits doesn't it generate the same amount of shield stun?

Yes, but if you do it early there is more time between the initial hit and the shine, allowing them to punish you.
Late aerials are safer because the hitlag comes right before you hit the ground, allowing you to follow up in a safer manner (i.e. shine) with a kind of shield stun cushion to protect you inbetween (so they'll still be in stun when you throw the shine out)

Maybe you're accidentally doing an L-cancelled aerial right next to them, instead of above them? (assuming it's a dair)

I'd had this problem for a little while, just try not to land your aerial next to them; try just directly above them. And also, do your aerial as late as you can, so their hitstun is still very present when you go in for a shine. That way, he/she won't grab you!
