Shield Break Jump Heights & Ledge Cancel
A Shield Jump is what occurs when a character’s shield breaks. You will notice that they fly up into the air, before falling down to the ground and being stunned. Every character has a different size Shield Jump, and it has some weird properties which would be good to know.
Shield Jump Heights
Every character’s Shield Jump is roughly the same height as their full hop (with the exception of Jigglypuff). If the Shield Jump is high enough to go above a platform, then the character whose shield was broken will land on the platform. Holding down does not make them fall through the platform.
As I play on 3DS I was not able to provide a list of characters who land on the platforms of all the legal stages, so all I have is battlefield platforms. If the character can land on a platform with a full hop from the main platform, then the shield jump will also make them land on that platform.
(I said platform a lot .-.)

Everyone
Characters who land on Battlefield top platform:
Shield Break Jump Properties:
The Shield Break Jump has some weird properties, which would be good to know if you play a character with a reliable shield break.
DI
DI does not affect the shield jump at all.
Player Interaction
If a player stands under or near enough to the player whose shield was broken that their hurtboxes meet, then they will be pushed slightly. This is one of two things that causes players to fall offstage, still in stun, after a shield break.
Shield Push
When a move hits a shield, the player in shield will be pushed back slightly. The stronger the move, the further they are pushed back. After a shield break, the shield jump moves in the direction that they would have if they were still in shield, from the shield push. This causes them to often not fall down directly where they were standing.
Because of this, it is possible for a player not standing under a platform, to still land on the platform after the shield break.
Ledge Cancels
When a character lands on the very edge of a platform, during the standing up animation, if they are close enough to the edge it will ledge cancel. Not all characters can do this, so a list of who can and can’t is below. If this happens on the edge of a platform, they will fall and land on the main platform. If this happens at the ledge, they will grab the ledge. This doesn’t work as well on the main platform as on the edges of upper platforms, so it is most likely that the character whose shield was broken will just fall offstage.
It is to be assumed that it also works on the Lylat stage tilts.
