So I'm a bit new to shffling, but i seem to be having a lot of trouble. I cannot seem to properly shffl nairs, fairs, or dairs. I use 'x' to jump, and then try to slide my thumb down to the c-stick, but the arial comes out way too late and doesn't hit. He starts the animations for them, but the move itself doesn't actually come out. With nairs, I can hit with the first kick, but not the second. It's especially frustrating trying to shffl knees, because it looks like it's going to hit, but doesn't come out fully before he hits the ground.

Don't use the c-stick for aerials unless you're shffling uairs. Try using the a button. and at first, just try short hopping aerials. Then go for the shffl.

the a button is right next to x, so, I don't really know what to tell you other than you aren't doing it fast enough. Either you have slow fingers or you just haven't had enough practice, so you're fingers haven't sped up yet. Maybe you're taking too long to conciously think about what to press? There's a lot of muscle memory in this game, and that comes with time.

mooseeatsbear, yes, that works for now, but later on he's going to have to learn to c-stick so that he can aerial without affecting his movement.

ok this is simmple to fix i had the same problem when i started playing. for the c-stick speed its just hard work. start a match with a human but by yourself. and just practice short hopping to arial as fast as you can. your thumb might not want to go that fast right now but youll get used to it so give it time.

one thing i do to increase my speed with the a button and c-stick is using the middle part of my thumb to hit a or c and usaully keep the tip on the jump.
this will allow you to just roll from jump to a.
hope this helps

1. work your reflexes faster sounds like you are just too slow on the buttons
2. try using A or Z
3. learn the l cancel timing down to a crisp
4. learn when to FF

you cant shffl u cant play falcon (well really thats almost every character but its expecially important for falcon)

Have you ever tried to SHFFL a dair with the a button?

seriously, it's better to just learn to C-stick everything, and if at first you don't succeed, just keep on trying, you'll get there, we've all been through that step of not being able to shuffl, just keep on trying.

agreed c-stick grants you better control in most sit. but at times you want to use the a button as well. personaully i mostly use the a for nairs fairs and bairs. sometimes uairs.
my dairs are always done by c-stick.

to help you shuffle force your self to try other things you normaly wouldnt. like if you nair once with both feet second time around if the sit calls for it use the first foot and land to something else.

u have a set move list you can do but 100's of dif ways to use them. if it doesnt work the first time keep doing it till you get it right.

I personally do the same thing that Moose said and only use the C-stick for Uairs.
And the Dairs are kind of tricky at first but you can get the hang of it over time.

I am still bad at the game but this is how i play.

Are you concentrating too hard on getting the short hop timing? I briefly had this problem (still can't consistently SH with Fox ). If so, practice SHFFLing with no aerials or L-Cancels. This is actually harder than SHing an aerial (no place to put your thumb), so it'll make using your aerials seem easier in comparison.

Once you leave the ground, you have plenty of time to aerial. You simply need more practice. I use the c stick for everything except nairs. It may seem hard to you now, especially if you are coming from SHFFLing on the moon (Brawl), but it's perfectly within your human capabilities to SHFFL.

Keep working on it! Practice using the name entry glitch or with a lvl 1 CPU, just be sure not to use training mode.
