This deserves it's own thread. Yes there's a thread talking about this happening with Greeninja uair but now we have video proof it can work with Sheik. Everyone please join me in celebration and speculation in how Sheik will be able to use and abuse this to glory.

By the looks of it this only works by landing before Sheik's uair completes, meaning it probably won't happen at higher percents. Seems fairly practical at lower percents, though, when juggles won't send the opponent as high into the air.

Possibly but if you watch the Greeninja video you will see he also demonstrates the effect happening if connect while fast falling the aerial. I can't tell if he was fast falling before or after it connected though.

I've done this by fast falling Megaman's bair in the demo. Cutting off multi-hit aerials before their final hit can result in exploiting a downward knockback in one of the small hits, effectively landing a meteor.

I'd say so far there are enough examples of this happening to consider it a universal tech as far as the game is concerned, for any applicable multi-hit attack.

I think he fast falls as soon as the move is out (as it connects), hard to tell. I can't see the fast fall indicator.

Raykz does a great job explaining how this works

The spike always works as long as you are fast falling with the attack before hitting the opponent. These seem to be the rules of the technique.

1. You must be fast falling before hitting the opponent with the move.
2. In Smash 4 when you perform an aerial you are taken OUT of fast fall. As such you must fast fall AFTER performing the aerial.

Basically you must fast fall after performing the aerial but before hitting your opponent which means that you must time the attack so that it comes out right before your opponent "falls into" the hitbox so that you have enough time to input the fast fall.

If you don't time it correctly you will either not hit your opponent or not be able to fast fall the attack.

What I was talking about specifically is getting an assured combo on stage. If you spike someone onstage they will either:

1-) Stick to the ground while crouching in a small amount of hit lag.
2-) Bounce upwards (This can be teched)

You can use this technique to get 100% assured combos as long as the opponent:

1-) Doesn't tech
2-) Doesn't bounce too high (this is dependent on his weight and what % he is at)

So the weight and damage someone has will decide how high he bounces which in term will decide whether you can hit him or not. If your opponent always likes to tech the bounce you could mix it up to a tech chase and try and get something out of it either way.
So now that we know how this works its looking pretty amazing, especially because it actually acts like a real spike and can cause even stage bounce. I guess the real question is how often and how easily can Sheik get this to work, can we do it on almost every dthrown into uair combo and if we could should we?

It's good to note that you can also perform it much easier by just performing the multi-hit aerial while slightly above the opponent and then just fast falling into them (Just how Sheik does it the second time in that video).

Yes, you can't combo INTO it at high %s because of how high all of your moves will send the opponent, but you can still combo out of it.

I've personally killed a Bowser Jr at 100-110% by using an Up-Air Fast Falled Up-Smash with Greninja. Bowser Jr full jumped and I caught him with my fast falled up air brought him with me towards the ground, he bounced right into the Up-Smash that I instantly performed as soon as I landed myself, basically performing a kill combo on him.

It's good to note that the bounce can be teched, but if you know your opponent will tech it then you can tech chase into another attack or grab.

But is that truly a combo, though? The combo counter never got past 2, if ya look. That means they could air dodge out at that percentage.

If I'm wrong, plz be gentle. q_q

Nothing on that video is a combo. You are correct. That's just showing the spike property that Multi-Hit moves have. The combos I was speaking of are after you do the Up-Air while on the stage.

Has it been shown if sheiks uair can spike in the air like greninjas?
You are in a thread called: "Sheik's uair can spike" with people detailing exactly how the technique is performed and how it works and with a video showing a Sheik doing it.

I don't know how to answer your question any more clearer than that.

Sorry if I was unclear, I meant if it had to be ground cancelled or not. The video only shows her uair being ground cancelled. Can it still spike IN THE AIR?

So far it hasn't been confirmed to work but due to the mechanics of this new spiking effect that so many of the cast has it would make sense if one character can do it then others could as well. This will be one of the first things I will test once I get the game so just wait a bit and you should have your answer by Monday at the latest.

I'm actually having a bit of trouble doing this, but this technique seems like it could be useful.
But just to make sure I'm following on what needs to be done. This would be a hard press on the jump button followed by an up air and then immediately afterwards you fast fall?

If by hard press you mean full hop then yes and no. While that can work, all that is required is to hit any of the weaker hits of u-air and fast falling to land before the final powerful hit comes out. I find it easier to do out of a short hop at most percents (quick light press).

Hmm, I'm still having issues pulling it off. You wouldn't happen to have any more clips of this trick being used?

Nah sorry, the only other thing I can imagine you're doing wrong is either you're initiating the u-air too soon (your jump should have reached its peak at least and you're now falling) or you're initiating the fast fall too soon after the u-air.
