Usually two of anything is a sub par team. One of the best parts of having a teammate is that their character's strengths can cover your character's weakness and vice versa, so by playing the same character you take that away and let the other team have a huge advantage. The only exception I have seen to this may be the double peach team, but even then, in my opinion there are better teams.

I went shiek+shiek a few weekends ago and it wasn't too bad. It depends on the match up.

Sorry this is from forever ago, but I truly don't think that Fox fox is that amazing. to me it seems like double fox teams often win less because of teamwork and just because the character is dumb. Also, the Fox players have to be amazing already. I think at any level other than the very top that fox fox is not that great.

The main issues with double sheik are that you have no reliable way of punishing people's shields, and no reliable way to rack up low percent damage. One of sheik's big weaknesses in doubles is that all her throws happen too slowly, and they do not get opponents off the ground into juggle situations.
