I see lots of threads, afterthoughts, responses, and more or less lots of input that is relevant to Gimpyfish's E4All "raid" and all of the info that he has so generously passed on to us, the community. I can't forget to mention the now massive amounts of related videos on youtube.

With the above mentioned, what I want to know from the community is how do you all think Brawl is shaping up? Does it meet your expectations? Does it exceed them or fall short? Are your favorite characters turning out how you want them to? Those are just a few of the questions. I just want to know in general how you, the community, think the game is shaping up. Also keep in mind that the E4All demo was *not* the final copy of the game.

IMO, I think Brawl is looking pretty good. It's meeting my expectations so far. The character I am looking forward to and have been looking to see in Smash since Smash64 is MetaKnight. I'm liking MetaKnight right now; he's how I expected him to be, but he could be just a little more powerful or maybe actually have a slightly better kill move. I don't like his throws, unless you can combo off of them which I don't know. The create-a-stage could be quite interesting...for you In The Groove players, it's kinda like being able to upload your custom songs for all to enjoy, so I like that. So far the advanced techniques and gameplay that have been discovered look like Sakurai is trying to maintain the advanced pro feel of the game while making it easier to play, or even easier to learn for tourney players.

Anyways, please discuss!

I think Brawl is the first game I've seen that is actually made with intelligence. While no one else has seemed to pick up on the genius Sakurai and his developers are, I certainly have.

Slowing the game down and removing the crazy combo-able abilities characters have makes the game much more mind-game oriented. A strange approach, forcing people to think about how they play, but one that seems to be working. And after all, if people still refuse to think and play seriously they'll still get combo'd zero to death. I'm also incredibly impressed at how balanced it seems to be, which is more than other "next-gen" games can say.

That's another thing I forgot to mention: some people have already said it other than Jazriel, but maybe, just maybe, this game will be more balanced. I'm liking that. Maybe we won't see Marth/Fox all the time.

Man, you guys are crazy. There is no explication of balance we can take from the 4-day demo. All the characters could be almost equal to eachother or there could be one dominating character over a bunch of crappy ones. At this moment what we have is not a representation of future tier listings so don't preach about how Brawl is going to be more balanced than Melee, because for all we know it could be worse.

Also slowing down the game does not increase the necessity for mindgames. At the higher levels technical skill is an almost irrelevant factor in comparison to prediction and adaptation. Slowing it down merely means that actions will be easier for less skilled players to process and adapt too.
