Hello, so I've just recently begun to get into competitive Smash, like when I joined. I realized that I know way too much about this game, but without the skills and experience to back it up, so I've decided to make a Youtube account and try to post videos and combos, etc.

http://www.youtube.com/user/SemperSmash

My internet at school sucks, so I'll be getting some videos up over winter break in a month or so when I go home. For now, I'll be doing some quick, lower-level combos. Don't expect to be awed; I'm still improving at this game, but feedback and constructive criticisms would be nice. :)

I actually just went into Training Mode for the first time a few weeks back to try my hand at combos. This is certainly a lot harder than I imagined, and I give those with the advanced combos lots of credit!

I guess I'll mainly be doing some flat ground combos for now until I get the hang of things and get more comfortable using platforms and the tent and stuff. There's a good chance I'll stick with FalconOnFalcons for at least the beginning since it's the easiest way (IMO) to work on combos and the timing.

TL;DR
I'm new-ish at Smash and am working on my skills.

ENOUGH INTRODUCTION
COMMENCE VIDEOS

Falcon On Falcon 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEhbK1LrGBI
 • First combo. Basic, but gets the job done. I like it.
Falcon On Falcon 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8490UdM_Vs
 • Nothing too special. The point of this combo was to work on the timing of the reverse B-air.
Falcon On Falcon 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb6AjT9lidM
 • By far my best and most involved combo of the first three. I tried to stray away from the boring and easy combos (aside from the U-Smashes) in favor of something with a little more spice to it. The timing was damn tricky on this one and I had to use stick jumps for extra height. You can read the long-winded video description for more info, as well as previous incarnations of this combo!
Falcon On Falcon 4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTjfwy-2o9g
 • Nothing too special here, but is a good way to practice those weak hit Nairs! The second one was pretty hard to get a weak hit.
Falcon On Falcon 5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxOhm4GqOlM
 • Uninspired, but I got good horizontal distance!
Falcon On Falcon 6
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43G69eHgWyQ
 • Pretty lame, and the first two hits of the F-air don't connect (disappointing), but the N-air is kinda cool.
Falcon On Falcon 7
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Pr75a8xgk8
 • Quick start to this combo, and some neat consecutive F-airing action going on. I also thought the ending was slick in that I landed on the top platform so smoothly!

Yeah, I talk way too much. It's actually a problem when it comes to school work.

I just spent the last 16 hours doing rocket science in a 34 page report for my calc class, when I'm pretty sure I could have hacked it down to like 10 pages.

ANYway, I liked the weak Nair ones, too. I think any Nairs in a Falcon combo look really good, since they are probably the hardest of his aerials to combo with.

Nair is the easiest aerial to combo with besides uair.

Weak nair is harder than fair though.

Overall from hardest to easiest (to use mid-combo)
Dair >>>>>>>>>>> Bair >>> Fair > Nair >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Uair

Ha Pete you confused me there, because I was like "OMG fair to falcon punch WHAT?"

But it's fair to uair to falcon punch
oh hey look something to waste my life on trying to do and then dancing in my chair to 90s music.

i think it could work..maybe...
Overall from hardest to easiest (to use mid-combo)
Dair >>>>>>>>>>> Bair >>> Fair > Nair >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Uair
objection.

wait..nothing to object about quite yet..

anyways, i got a falcon on yoshi vid i'm gonna post eventually, after i record it, i think it might be bias to a real life situation with an opponent, hence when i use the dair; AND NO, IT'S NOT UAIR>UAIR>DAIR lol i'm isai

also, you can use bair in a situational moment like if you are on dreamland and pivot it. or on a platform.

fair is alright, i just use it to switch up my playstyle then just uairs. falcon's fair should work like fox's fair in the **** tent, which it doesn't. inb4 knockback differences and hitboxes.

Oh, whoops, it was set to private for some reason... Should be visible now, although there's really not much there.

And I guess I just have issues comboing with Nair. I never know when to use it, and whenever I do, it's always a weak hit into a Usmash or something. It just pushes the opponent too far away once you get beyond like 30% for me to follow it up. Any suggestions for how to combo more effectively with Nair?

Maybe I need to use more platforms and whatnot, since combing with Nair is really difficult on flat ground.

Good stuff. Can't wait to see more.

I wish I had more time to play smash, we could play each other and get better perhaps. You say you're relatively new, I feel that I am relatively new as well.

Yeah, definitely, man. It'd be good to play somebody more on my level! Let me know what you're up to in the next month or so. I'll be on break until mid January with stable nets and the like, so I'd be down for some P2P or whatnot. And you probably live just an hour or two away from me so we'd get just a couple frames.

This goes for anybody else as well. East coasters preferably! I'm pretty sure I can host, but I'll need to open my ports first.

nice one :) you should try out some other characters and/or try moving falcon in the other direction. you'll notice you improve a lot quicker if you use a variety of characters.

I'm actually working on one where I move Falcon to the left, and then back to the right, similar to Kuz's combo...

The set up is the same as the above and the second Nair is replaced by a U-air, and then a pivot, and then something to turn around. Not quite sure yet since I don't want to copy Kuz's double U-air. I was thinking another Nair or Fair.

Or something.

And yes, I'm going to try different characters soon, once my Falcon fixation wears off. I actually have another one recorded where I move Falcon to the right. I'll upload it soon. As for comboing other characters, definitely gonna do that.

Hate to double post, but I'm not sure if there's another way to bump the thread... mods can just merge it, if need be. :)

Anywho, I've got a few combos that I never got around to uploading way back when, so I'll upload those, as well as some new, tricky ones. Still mainly working with Falcon on Falcon (although I will upload a FalconOnDK), especially since I haven't comboed in ages.

Working on platform drop combos and I just love the way consecutive F-airs look! I've got some new combos planned with different endings than the dull Ken combo.

Pretty ok combos, let's see some other characters xD

Don't worry about talking too much. Are you in university/college? I began my bad habit of being too lengthy with my posts when I started university.

Ha... I've always been talking too much. I think it really got bad in high school. My English essays and papers would always be way too long and super descriptive (came in handy in Rhetoric!) and one of my teachers described my writing as "cinematic".

I kinda like that! I've never heard anybody refer to writing as cinematic before, and although some of the connotations may include too much description and awesome, flashy words. I'm unique!

But yeah, continuing the long post, I actually don't like writing. Well, it's okay, as long as it's something I enjoy writing about. English was murder for me, and every paper took at least 3 hours of procrastinating to start. Good thing I'm doing engineering in college, although my technical reports are just as bad. I've got a bad habit of writing too many equations now!

But yes, more characters to follow. I've got a few more Falcon combos, then I'll move on to something else. I usually get bored with a character after a while.

Okay, I know my previous combos were kinda lame, but I guarantee that I will be posting some damn good combos that I've been working on in the near future. Still only Falcon, but they're good; I promise.

For the time being, please enjoy some of my "signs of improvement" recent combos...

too much fair

Falcon On Falcon 11

Falcon On Falcon 13

reverse bair, pivots galore and finished with a PAWNCH

I should really just compile these all into a single video...

you can finish with ff -> jump -> dair

have you considered falcon's position-reliant insta-ledge grab with up-b?

i mean, i can't really see a great deal of use for it, but im hardly a combo visionary...
