Hey y'all,
I've been playing Melee semi-seriously now for about 2 months and I'm at that awkward stage in-between complete scrub nub and being considered "okay". I've always been very analytical, so I can pick up a lot of the mental game very quickly. My tech skill is pretty good when practicing alone, but when playing friends who are better than me, I feel like I revert back to "derp f-smash" Marth play. My friends try their best to point out when I'm rolling too much or when I should've wavedashed, but that's not their job, it's mine. My question is what should I do to step my game up and get out of this rut? I can only play with my friends at most once a week for like 3 hours at a time. What can I do alone beside practice tech skill and chain grabs against level 3's? Also, a little off-topic, but will practicing on a CRT make a difference? When I go to my friend's house, I can definitely feel the difference, but I usually get accustomed to it within 5 minutes. Thanks in advance.
