Recently been experimenting with Kirby as a secondary to go along with my Pikachu secondary and Dedede main. Could use some advice on how to do better with him overall. Only been using him steadily for about a month.

Currently, I think my ground game is my weakest portion (unless you want to count the fact I can do grab combos decently).

I have vids for you to go off of, they vary in how good they are =/

Kirby Vs. Falco

(He suicided once, but he was within KO range anyway I suppose =/)

Kirby Vs. Marth

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. I look forward to your criticism. Oh, and be honest because I'd prefer you tell me I downright suck rather then sugar coat it.

You're actually not that bad, but you were being really predictable with the throw combo when the opponent was at 0%. U should try to mix it up a little more after u get the KO.

yea, u rely too much on starting ur next kill with throws...it's like all u do when they're at 0% is grab. sometimes u gotta fight regularly and be unpredictable. Also, lay off on the laggy moves, u do way too much smashes, and u will get punished easily.

Yeah, use Kirby's neutral A attack (the jab) more often instead of using his smash attacks so much. Try using his dash attack and too, because it's awfully good. Lastly, when getting back on the stage, I find that using final cutter (up b) works good against someone who's edgeguarding, and that his stone attack is perfect for getting back down after getting launched in the air. All in all, you're pretty decent with Kirby, I think.

Ok, thanks for the advice so far. I got the second Marth vid up tonight but its nothing too special. So far I've noticed you all said lay off the smashes and use his faster attacks. Don't always go for the grab combos at 0% (but they're so tempting! D: ). Use his jab more.

I do have a couple questions now though, what would be Kirby's best way to punish if say, Marth whiffed an U-smash or something? Also, I've been wondering if Stone stops momentum if say, I was launched off the side and would regain control shortly before the blast line but normal movement wouldn't save me. Would Stone stop all momentum? I keep forgetting to try :x

Looking forward to more.

if someone whiffs something right next to me I dsmash since its actually kirbys fastest smash and you will almost never use it

besides that if I know my opponent likes to shield after whiffing (most people do) then I run towards them and grab

if my opponent decides to spotdodge every time they whiff a move I will dash attack them...

Ill edit in advice after I watch these videos (yay late night advice lol)

edit: Ok watched them all...

so yes you use smashes way to much... you do know that each time you use an attack its knockback and damage are diminished until you use around 9 other moves? Try to avoid weakening your fsmash so much unless you plan to use upsmash or hammer as your kill move (which can work well in some matchups) try to use kirbys tilts more

using the hammer should generally be used when your opponent is doing something with lag that you can predict but not be punished for if you miss...

make use of more of all of kirbys attacks, learn when to use each attack and avoid doing attacks in ways that can be punished

also grabs are your safest bet for punishing your opponent in general as the most common reflex is to shield

but dont be predictable about grabbing or they will simply attack you before you grab them or sidestep and attack

upb onto the stage is a bit risky as you are putting yourself at a vulnerable position right at the edge... try to just grab the ledge and then approach the stage in another way

also inhale can be useful as a regular attack if you learn what attacks it outprioritizes and just mix it in when you are right above your opponent as they will shield thinking you will do an aerial and you will eat them

In my opinion you keep Kirby on the ground too much. Vary up your approaches with some aerials. Also most of the time your edge guarding consists only of dairs and hammers. Try other moves like bair, nair, and the rock. Outside of that is mostly what other people have already stated. Mainly your grabbing starts to become predictable and your smashes get stale pretty fast.

Sometimes it helps to use the final cutter after u knock someone off the edge because the projectile pushes them away and if they come back high enough you could spike them
