Second Sheik, or Marth?

Hello, who should I second, Sheik or Marth? I've been practicing with Marth for a few weeks but I recently played Sheik and really liked playing him (or her?). Should I drop Marth and focus or Sheik, or would the time I would put into Marth pay off more than Sheik?

your secondary is less about matchups and more about confidence. you need someone you can fall back on if your falco gets ***** to keep you unfazed and ready to try a new angle, honestly it wouldnt matter if it was fox. but its not a bad idea to have a good marth and shiek in your toolbox once you get to know your matchups better

OK, thanks, so you're saying it doesn't really matter, but it would be a good idea to get decent with both?

PS: Play Runescape? :lick:

Actually, matchups are usually the only reason people do have secondaries. If their main could handle everything, secondaries would be unnecessary.

So it really comes down to what you have trouble with as Falco. Falcos tend to have problems with Peach, Samus, Luigi (good ones), and Jiggs/Marth to a certain extent. Sheik and Marth tend to do well against all of those, I'd say that Sheik probably has better matchups against Samus, Luigi, Jiggs, and Marth. So if your Sheik is significantly better, go ahead and use it as your secondary. Just play around with both characters for a bit, see which one you like more.

I use both Sheik and Marth as secondaries. I have a rather aggressive play style, so both are used accordingly. Sheik comes in vs Peach, Marth, and Jiggs. Where as Marth can come in vs Peach, Ice Climbers, and other randoms.

OK, thanks a lot guys. My other friend who plays above scrub level (neither of us are good enough for tourneys but we use adv. techs and are getting better I hope) plays Marth and we were messing around and my Sheik did way better against him than Falco or Marth. I was surprised because I never really played Sheik and I was killing him half the time with Sheik where as my Falco would lose more than half the time.

Marth takes many match-ups Falco can't...easily.

Some examples include: Samus, Jiggs, Peach.

you could also try to Marth ditto if your any good at it. This is the strategy I use with my Fox. Play somewhat as a purist..until I get to any of the aforementioned characters.

out of those two characters you cant go wrong with either one when it comes to a secondary they are both really good against every character on the smash roster and both are good counter parts for each other so you should really use both but it depends on how confident you are
