Could saving the spring, almost never using it serve as a good mindgame to throw your opponent off to land a good dair?

Meh, I am not nearly on the same level as the rest of you guys, but it seems like the spring is too valuable for Sonic to not use. It lets you play on the edge without any fear of falling, it does wonders for escaping, and gimps like a mother. The occasional dair is not worth the loss of the spring.

When I use it I always dair after I it
and I sometimes fall off the edge and lose a stock!!!!
Sonic is so high in the air I cant see where he is going to land
