up angled fsmash is slightly stronger, down angled fsmash is slightly weaker

both up and down angles of fsmash reduce it's vertical range

don't fsmash unless it's guaranteed

post this in the Q&A thread next time

so does that mean that the up angled fsmash has higher knockback? or puts on more damage..

Samus's f-smash doesn't change in damage or knockback no matter which way you angle it, its just a better way to snag your opponents if they're ducking or if they're in midair.

An up angled fsmash does indeed change in knockback. It KOs at least 10% sooner than a normal fsmash and inflicts 1% more damage. The opposite is true for down angled fsmash.

I must say I did not know that. I'll have to pay more attention to how I angle the Fsmash from now on when I'm playing Brawl.

Is there a significant change in the horizontal vector of motion?

'cause if not, sounds like I should always up-angle it except when that would miss.

Up angle F-smash can miss small characters, especially if they duck. As habit now I always angle them up, but I have to remind myself not to do that w/ small characters, if I f-smash them at all, they are usually too quick to get hit by it.

And a down angled F-smash probably has best chance of hitting all characters...unless they are farther away I guess if it does change the horizontal movement...

That's right.
Down angled fsmash is more likely to land and sends at a slightly lower angle
Non angled fsmash has the most horizontal range (albeit, the range wasn't that much to begin with)
Up angled fsmash is the strongest and most likely to KO even with good DI

If given the opportunity to fsmash (i.e. trip, fall special, missed/shielded laggy attack, broken shield), space yourself out first, because fsmash's range is embarassing then up-angled fsmash. Utilt has comparable strength to the fsmash if your foe is in front of you, but airborne. If you don't have enough time to space yourself out, fsmash may not be the best idea. Jab>dtilt is good for 18% and gives you time to charge your beam and can KO at ~135%.

In one of Tudor's videos, someone noticed that Tudor angled his f-smash downward, and so he asked why. Tudor told him that the reason he does this is because if his opponent uses his shield, then the f-smash can hit the opponent's feet sometimes.
