If you have not yet read the SWF Global Rules Version 5.0, it is strongly advised that you do so. It doesn't matter if you're new or old here. Please go and read up on it. The rules here below are only a commentary of what is stated in the SWF Global Rules Version 5.0.
1. Censor Dodging
Censor dodging is when someone figures a way around censoring profanity, either by spacing a letter from a vulgar word or words. For example, let's assume for a bit that this made up word, "thagwort" was a vulgar word. If it was written, the censoring would put it as, "********." There are two methods that are known that bypass this. The first would be spacing a letter from the word. So, let's say someone used "thagwort," but they wrote "t-hagwort," or "t hagwort." The censor has been bypassed. Another way is by using the same colored text that is used on SWF. Since the color white is used, one might take the first letter of the word and use the color code to color the first letter of the word, white. So, to bypass "thagwort," one might enter {color="white"}t{/color}hagwort.
The curly brackets were used in this example, though originally brackets would be present there. I only done this so I could show the example. These two methods are unacceptable by the Smash World Forums standards, and it will not be tolerated. Not everyone is of the same age, and it's probably not a good idea to use offensive slang or vulgar words around people who otherwise might not even know what the words mean. And those who do know what they mean, doesn't necessarily mean that they have to read the word. As it is, the SWF standards goes by "Everyone, or E10+," kind of like how the ESRB rates the content of video games. So, please, do not censor dodge. You know it's not permitted here, and it won't be wise of you to even attempt bypassing the censoring in the first place.
2. Duplicate/Redundant Threads, Posts, and Topics
The SWF Global Rules Version 5.0 basically covers this, but I would like to commentate a bit on it. It is not stated that if it has been past six months since a thread has already been discussed, that it should be resuscitated. Generally, at the bottom of the last page of the thread just below the last post, it will say, "Warning! The last reply to this thread was posted several months ago. Please make sure you are not unnecessarily bumping this thread before replying." If it says this, it might be acceptable to create a new thread. Ask a moderator before doing so, however, since a duplicate thread can lead to an infraction.
3. Video Threads
We have an official Samus video thread that was created by me and suggested by Xyro77. Please check there if you wish for your videos to be put up in the first post. If you want your video(s) put up, please send me a private message (PM) and I will post them up for you. You are more than welcome to create a thread of your own show-casing you brawling with other people, or if you're asking for us to critique your character, but please do not make this a habit as it will clutter up the Samus board. If you happen to get more videos up, use the same thread you created before and edit your first post. If you wish to change the title of the thread to tell us that you have new stuff up, click on "Edit" and then "Go Advanced."
