I've created a post here pointing out the hypocrisy in banning walled/walk-off stages to prevent chaingrabbing to death but not protecting characters like Samus who are vulnerable to standing infinites:

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=173861

IMHO, if they're going to protect Snake from Dedede hammering him against a wall or off a walk-off stage, they should protect all 7 of the infinite-vulnerable characters from the same inescapable death.

I'm sick of being told "Just avoid being grabbed!! LOLOL!" and I'm sure Samus mains are as well.

Hopefully, no one will need to do anything, but a post of support in the aforementioned thread will be ideal if tournament organizers refuse to change the ruleset and continue catering to people who main a character who D3/Marth can chain but not infinite.

In Melee Wobbling ended up being banned from most major tournaments. For those who don't know, Wobbling was the Ice Climbers' infinite grab combo and was very easily done. More so then the Ice Climber combos we have today. Anyway, while this was banned, years had gone by where it wasn't. During this time, Wobbling was legal. But after awhile it stopped being used. You see, there is an honor system among the top players. And in good standing the majority of regular tournament goers undrstood this as well and they too stopped Wobbling.

Even with this "honor system" in place Wobbling still ended up being banned. For right now, the best thing to do is allow chaingrabbing to be played so that it will force the evolution of the game ahead further and faster. Walk-off Stages will always being around to protect characters from moving chaingrabs. However their will surely be a limit to how many or how long a standing chaingrab may be preformed. To steal the chaingrab from the character would be wrong. However to deny the handful of characters that this owns would be even worse. The compromise to this is establishing limiters. This is the road I see the ruling on chaingrabbing to take.

i thought that ddd's samus chaingrab didn't even require him to move. i thought he could throw and grab without stepping forward infinitely with samus. doesn't matter which level we go to, we're screwed against a decent ddd

That's Smash_Brother's point. The issue is that the banning of walk-off stages is designed to protect people from the Moving Chaingrab. However characters like Samus are completely screwed as you've said. The controversy is that the rule is seemingly protecting every character but the handful that can't escape, like Samus.

As I stated before, walk-off stages probably won't be banned for being walk-offs. However most will probably be banned because the majority of walk-off stages completely bite. Mario Circuit however is a nice stage, and is actually thought of by some to be a Initial Stage. At the very least it'll be tournament legal.

In the end, the most logical solution is a limiter on standing chaingrabs. Walk-off stages will be banned if the stage sucks for reasons other then being a walk-off stage. Places like Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Mario Circuit, and Green Hill Zone will probably all be legal despite having walk-off edges.
