Hey everyone!
I've got a mix of good and bad news today, unfortunately - but let's start with the good!
== The Good: We've got a new logo! ==
With a huge
thank you to Riiyashii for the design, we now have our new SSF logo!
As I mentioned when we swapped to
The Cube in the first place, it was only ever a temporary logo (we basically had to swap before we were ready due to the Nintendo Guildelines update last year)
That said, if you're a big fan of
The Cube... stay tuned, we should have something fun to share Soon™
(And hopefully this actually means soon for real this time, lol)
We'll be moving all our graphics and stuff over to this over the next few weeks, but please bear with us during the transition period as some places will still have
The Cube for the moment!
== The Bad: Money Stuff ==
The Ike Box is changing the way we rent the downstairs - in the past, we could basically 'pay for the room' by bringing in enough business
(which is why we collected receipts, as a log of the amount of business!), but due to rising costs they're swapping to a flat rental fee instead
Unfortunately even with a discount for being there for so long the new fee is...
doable, but still a bit high for us at the moment
Because of this, we don't have much choice but to make a few
'immediate' changes, and consider a few
POTENTIAL longer-term ones:
- We will no longer be able to offer discounts for Ike Box receipts
- The venue fee will no longer be waived for players only entering Nintendo-IP games
- That said, we are waiving the venue fee for anyone who drives a carpool!
- We may need to stop offering the setup discount soon as well, but it's at least sticking around for the moment!
In the longer-term, we're re-evaluating if running both Saturdays and Sundays is going to be a viable option long-term (since it doubles the rental cost per week) - the
goal is to keep both, but... we're going to need to make some changes to do that either way
On that note,
if you can help us advertise around (even just hanging up flyers around your local area is a big help - we're working on flyers now, but let me know if you'd like to help design them as well!),

== The Other Good ==
On the upside, now that we have the new logo figured out it means we're finally going to be able to start making SSF T-Shirts, Stickers, and stuff like that!
If you want some SSF merch to call yours (while also helping us keep the events running!),
please let me know!
(We'll get some sort of store up soon, but
for now go ahead and just DM me and I'll get it taken care of!
For now, everything will need to be picked up from an SSF in-person)
Also, with the upcoming changes to SSF
it is more important than ever that you fill out the form for what games you want to see (and when you can show up)!
