The roster does not live up to the hype the game created, but at least it almost does. At first when I saw the 35 character roster I denied it. But after all the evidence has been laid out, we have to accept this truth. At least Sakurai tried to give us what we(and possible what he himself wanted) in game. He got rid of most of the clones left from Melee and gave us new original characters that we have not even tried out yet. We can only sit here and watch the gameplay videos and comment on whats happening. I'm sure opinions will change once it comes out in over a month.
Putting the Roster aside, Sakurai gave us other fun modes of gameplay. The coin launcher seems to be a better approach to obtaining trophies than the gumball machine and he added stickers to collect and use in a rpg-esque fashion. We finally have online play, whether or not I can say if it'll be laggy i can't say, but at least we have it. The best mode in my opinion that Sakurai added was the stage creator. It reminds me of the Skate Park creator from the Tony Hawk games. I can't wait to see what people will create from the stage creator.
As I've said before, all we can do is observe the updates and news of brawl spoilers. People are jumping to conclusions saying that the roster sucks, when they haven't even gave it a chance. Haven't gotten hands on experience with it. I'm sure after March 9, 2008 opinions about the game will change.
(i kinda ran on and on, sorry if the grammar isn't too great....but in short, just give it a chance before you shoot down the characters.)
