Sakurai is trying to make characters well-balance

Hello Everyone, I want to make a pretty good thread but I don't have that kind of skill to make a great thread but please be patience with me. I want to point it out that there is alot of change in the game that could cause characters' moveset to being balanced out. We already seen few interesting evidences that they are trying to make low tier and mid tier little stronger or increase their reach or hit box. I have that feeling that most of our characters will have somewhat adjustment, like weak their moves or increase the speed and power to their attacks, in order to balance them out. So expect your favorite characters to being adjust, in order to be fair.

I know people are pretty much sick of this picture, but please humor me. What if it is possible that Link is getting new attacks or his style being adjusted from Melee to balancing out his moveset to become more balanced character. Please think about it, and I have other picture to share.

A nice picture of Bowser from Bowser Update. I am sure that we already noticed that addition to his move was little more reachable. Reason why Bowser is low tier in Melee, because he is pretty slow but very powerful. Sakurai made his move somewhat more reachable, as trying to balance out Bowser back to equality with other characters?

Mario is going to getting his moveset revamped, however he will get to keep his other 3 special moves. We can tell that they are trying their best to make us happy to touch our characters which could be balanced as well.

Here is awesome quote from Sakurai on Yoshi Update,

"Among other things, he can now use his up special move, the Egg Toss, to increase the distance of his jump. That’s enough to earn him a hearty welcome, isn’t it?"

Here is famous quote from Sakurai,

"We will create this game with balance in mind."

He mention that comment during his speech at e3 2006, with other interesting comments. I remember that quote. That exactly quote that perked me up. I am really that they would try their best to balance it out. Lately, the pictures that they have shown us, is the facts that they are working so hard to balance the characters out for us. I want to start a interesting discussion about how can Sakurai would make this game very well-balance. That is kind of thing that would make me really happy. I meant I am excited that we can play the characters that could be equal or balance to each other but only different is our own skills.

Please express your opinions or concerns here, so we can discuss about it!

Darkurai,

Technically, Bowser was one of Tuesday Update, but if you felt that way then I will adjust that.

For that picture, I fixed it, because I accidentally copy and paste html link instead of image link.

Ah, thanks. I was really confused and thought for a moment you had no idea what you were talking about at some parts.

Slowly starting to enjoy my mothertongue again. :)
Of course they're trying to balance the game; but I think any attempts at fixing the broken characters will end up futile when you consider how many newcomers there are going to be, all of which could be broken thanks to some new technique unforseen by the developers. They have more time to balance the game, but also more characters to balance, so I think that the balance will be about even with Melee.... although some characters *coughfoxcough* will get the crap nerfed outta them.

Hopefully Sakurai has learned more about balancing a game since the crazy transition from SSB to SSBM. I hope that he tries to make the average characters better and the bad characters a lot better rather than make the best characters worse and the worst characters better, since the former approach potentially yields more character diversity and more interesting gameplay, IMO.

Everyone is right about fact that it is common knowledge that they will try to balance the games. However, would we experience tier list in Brawl that could be lead to over-abused character or etc.

For example, many people were worried about metaknight being over-abused due to flying and speedy skill of his.

I don't know. I'd be a fan of every character being evened out so there wasn't a tier list, because really, I'd rather be beat by a better player than a better character.

I don't understand why everyone forgets about this?

Broken character= Fixed by automatic update

Simple. :)
is there any precedent of the auto update system being used to update games and not just the system firmware?

that's probably why no one is counting on it. it's not like Brawl is an ongoing MMORPG.

Well I'm glad they are doing something rather new with Link, I have no idea what hes charging up but some of the updates so far have been very appealing with Link, such as his tether-recovery and his weapon's new special attributes. Although, the Boomerang might be troublesome when attacking recovering characters as it'll draw them in. But that also might stun them enough for a major attack as well? Link sure is shaping up!

I know I might get yelled at but, I'd very much like his Forward Smash Attack to be rather like his SSB Smash as opposed to Melee because well, that Melee Smash was not as practical in my opinion.

Ever played Pokemon Battle Revolution? Notice how hacked Pokemon can't be used anymore? Yet they could at the start?

What about for people that don't got wireless internet connection for the update? Then there will be different versions of the game lol.

Also, mass updating for balance may screw up the gameplay, when people get used to things. A good example was World of Warcraft, people played it for the first 2 years, then they TRIED to balance the game, and just totally messed up the whole game making it worse with other things imbalanced, and the style of play was screwed up for everyone. LOTS of people quit because of this. I don't think you want that for brawl, they should be doing a good job for the first release, and no need for an update.

confirmed. Sending Supplies.
I think they should try to balance them out, if you mean nobody will be better overall than another character but some characters will still have extreme stats like Bowser and Ganondorf will still be slow and powerful, but they'll be the same strength overall as other characters.

Balance patches are a great plan. In an ideal world, of course, they wouldn't be necessary, but if they do prove to be necessary, it would be silly not to implement them. (And WoW has more people now than ever. They're up to 9 million+)
