Sakurai has an injury in both of his arms now

*groans and moans* I hate Sakurai! I hate him for what he had done to me! He Falcon Punched my butt and destroyed my sphincter. He deserves to have his arms hurt for doing that to me! This after he told me that no matter how hard I support Waluigi, he would never get in Smash. Waaa... Waaa... Waaa... my anus needs some stitches. Where is Dr. Mario when you need him?

I can already see it. This is probably gonna be sakurai's last game. He lost the functionality of both his hands. He's giving it everything he's got and more. As we get closer and closer to release day the strain on his body increases. One day he'll just give out, and on that day the community will gather round to say our good byes. We'll look down on his broken body and lament. On his death bed sakurai will quietly whisper,

"Here is smash 4. I hope it's all that you dreamed it would be."

Then someone will lean in and say the words to punctuate sakurai's existence and condemn him to ceaseless suffering in the afterlife.

Fortunately, that person will be objectively wrong.

I know it's not much, but I really want to sketch up a "Get Well Soon" card for Sakurai, featuring Nintendo characters, but with Kirby, Meta Knight, Dedede, Pit and Palutena taking center stage.

I'm contemplating whether or not to include other Nintendo characters not in Smash Bros. (that aren't Kirby or Kid Icarus characters) like Ridley, King K. Rool and Toad. But, I just want to show the guy that he needs to rest and I appreciate all he does. I'd write it all in Japanese (with the help of my friends who speak the language, of course) and then send it off with my signature.

Why can't he just direct without using his arms? Have the team continue developing the game while he's there to make sure everything is right in his eye. His arms have more important roles than testing the game, such as eating, reading, typing, etc. He deserves a break, and honestly, I would not like to have someone else direct Smash other than Sakurai himself. I think he knows what he's doing in comparison to everybody else. Well, unless the same people who have been making Smash since day one are apart of this. Still.

Sakurai's situation from what I hear isn't extremely uncommon unfortunately. In Japan it seems that the expectation for alot of people at their jobs are pretty intense even compared to a lot of places in NA, where even here I feel the expectation is far too high.

However, you can't really deny Sakurai doesn't lack passion for the things that he does. Even if it's doing him physical harm in the process.
