As gamers, do you agree that a lot of developers are out of touch with what we want? I'm not saying that they should listen to every one of our bratty requests - it just feels like many games don't have enough love put into them, and are just quick attempts to jump on the bandwagon and make a quick buck. Sakurai and the Smash Team, however, are putting A LOT of effort into the game, and it seems like all of it is being done for US.
Firstly, I'd like to mention all the comments that Sakurai made after E3. I loved the way he casually communicated with the fans and established a connection with us, i.e. commenting on our suggestions, telling us how many third party characters he'll put in, etc. He pretty much removed the formal "business" barriers between us and his team. In 2003, Sakurai mentioned something like this in an interview, so it isn't just me overanalysing everything
OK, perhaps I'm brown nosing the guy here, but the work Sakurai and his team are doing is MONUMENTAL. Every Nook and Cranny (pardon the expression) of Nintendo history is being incorporated into Brawl . It shows how much passion they have for their work; they don't HAVE to do all of this stuff. It would be much easier to make a Melee 2.0 with updated graphics, a few new characters and wifi, but they chose to make sure Brawl will be a sequel to Melee in every sense of the word.
The musician dream team, the newcomers, bosses, the new character animations, possible online, assist trophies AND pokeballs, stickers, Subspace Emissary, 3rd party characters, trophies, more-innovative-than-Melee items, it's just too much! And we have like, 95 updates left?
I just wanted to get that off my chest - I'm so flippin' excited.
