As gamers, do you agree that a lot of developers are out of touch with what we want? I'm not saying that they should listen to every one of our bratty requests - it just feels like many games don't have enough love put into them, and are just quick attempts to jump on the bandwagon and make a quick buck. Sakurai and the Smash Team, however, are putting A LOT of effort into the game, and it seems like all of it is being done for US.

Firstly, I'd like to mention all the comments that Sakurai made after E3. I loved the way he casually communicated with the fans and established a connection with us, i.e. commenting on our suggestions, telling us how many third party characters he'll put in, etc. He pretty much removed the formal "business" barriers between us and his team. In 2003, Sakurai mentioned something like this in an interview, so it isn't just me overanalysing everything

OK, perhaps I'm brown nosing the guy here, but the work Sakurai and his team are doing is MONUMENTAL. Every Nook and Cranny (pardon the expression) of Nintendo history is being incorporated into Brawl . It shows how much passion they have for their work; they don't HAVE to do all of this stuff. It would be much easier to make a Melee 2.0 with updated graphics, a few new characters and wifi, but they chose to make sure Brawl will be a sequel to Melee in every sense of the word.

The musician dream team, the newcomers, bosses, the new character animations, possible online, assist trophies AND pokeballs, stickers, Subspace Emissary, 3rd party characters, trophies, more-innovative-than-Melee items, it's just too much! And we have like, 95 updates left?

I just wanted to get that off my chest - I'm so flippin' excited.

Agreed. Sakurai's serious about reaching out to the fans- he's doing everything in his power to satisfy a vast majority of gamers. And it's working- Brawl's starting to be THE best Wii game out there. It might even beat MP3: Corruption!

I don't know... an hour in and already MP3 is pretty epic...

I'm sure I'll love Smash more though.

Amen. Sakurai and the team are REALLY putting alot of work into this game. Taking alot of time for detail and whatnot.
Also, did you get the "Melee 2.0" from my thread?

Was that the thread which asked people whether they would rather have Melee 2.0 with online or an offline Brawl? If so, then I did get it from your thread :chuckle:

Yes it was. And I just bumped it to the front page, if you wanted to express your opinion.

Well, he said in an article (that you used to be able to read on the Dojo site) that originally they were just going to make the game Melee with online support, but he didn't want to see his creation be tossed away like that.

I think he realized that this is his passion and he (and his team) love the series. And in order for the series to continue past Brawl (and their jobs LOL) they need to please the fans. Epic games = people wanting sequels. People wanting sequels = more money for the team and Nintendo.

So in the end, its kinda all about money anyways. :p

well.............. this seems to be interesting........

the game will be great no question about it but i don't like how people complain about it (even being sarcastic)............ though everyone's entitled to there own opinion about how they like a game................................................ the process to make a game is pretty **** complicated and takes alot of money and support. in fact i feel spoiled with the updates every weekday because usually we only get small (sometimes big) updates every so often and i hear people complaining about obvious updates like "you must recover" since alot of us have already played the games before and know this info. though there are alot of people who haven't even thought about playing the games and got interested to see what this game has.

now that im done ranting about the updates lets look at the time and effort Sakurai and his team are putting into the game.

they are giving us weekday updates( these rock!)

they are giving us 30-40 characters (estimate)

they are updating the graphics and smoothing out the gameplay (i hope)

they are getting third party characters for the game (i hope more are coming!)

they are giving us a more detailed and story oriented 1 player mode (this is going to be awesome!!)

they are planning on getting us online play (WOOT!....... I hope this comes throuugh)

they are giving us more items/stages/moves/music (this will be fun)

they are giving us the option to use up to 4 different types of controlers(this will be AWESOME)

and a myriad amount of other (i hope so) add-ons in the game (this fills me with so much joy!!!)

now alot of other games have all of that and more but this game is the best we have anticipated for Years!!!!! (and possibly more) so lets be confident in what hes giving us and the amount of time and energy to get the permission to update the site everyday for us to admire that is new and requires permission from the nintendo executives and anybody else higher up because it might have negitive consequences and casue a rift in their profits (i don't know if this is true or even possible). But this turned out to be a great strategy for getting more people into the game and bringing back older players for a great potential profit on the game.

so in conclusion good job Sakurai and nintendo!

*note* i do not think that everyone who complains is wrong or or that everybody complains and doesn't like the game because everybody can't like every thing about a game but hearing complaints is pretty annoying since I feel that we got alot from the game developers and shouldn't complain about pointless updates.

sry if i offended anybody or if i ranted to much. or was off topic

SSBB=THE game of the century...ok thats too much..let's say...the most waited game in 2007, and the best game on wii, for now...

i think SSBB is one of the reason why Wii pawned everything in the next-gen console battle...

ok what i forgot to say is...GG sakurai, you're great!
