Ryu's TSRK Kill Percentages

Listed down below are the kill percents for Ryu’s True Shoryuken (also known as TSRK), one of the best kill moves in the game of Smash 4. To perform TSRK, you must input the following actions: Forward -> Down -> Down-Forward and then press A or B. This move kills ~20% earlier than the regular Up + B motion and is crucial to Ryu in the current metagame.

Each character’s death percents were tested in training mode, with the CPU set to “Control” so directional influence (also known as DI) could be inputted by my partner. Credits to @ACTEight for the help. Due to it being training mode, every TSRK that was performed was fresh and there was NO rage when testing. This is VERY important to note because rage and staling can heavily affect the kill percentages within a game. Avoid using TSRK until you can combo into it in order to keep it fresh and perfect for when you really need it. As a guide, 100% rage allows you to kill around 15% earlier than normal. 150% rage allows you to kill ~25% earlier than normal, which is a huge boon for us. Try and live for as long as possible so TSRK is even more useful.

Every character within the roster was tested on three stages. These were Battlefield, Final Destination and Town & City. These three stages are all currently legal within the 7-stage format that most of Smash 4 currently finds themselves in. I have provided information for the majority, and testing percentages on stages such as Delfino Plaza and Castle Siege were simply not worth it. For those wondering as to why the percentages weren’t tested on Smashville, Dreamland, Lylat Cruise and Duck Hunt, it is because these stages have the exact same ceiling data as Final Destination which therefore meant there was no point. Furthermore, with the possible legality of the Umbra Clock Tower stage in certain areas, I tested the kill percentages on every character and it has the same ceiling as Battlefield, with the exception of the small dimple in the stage (located exactly where the clock is) which increased the kill percentages by 1.

In regards to DI, the best DI input for TSRK is AWAY from Ryu. For example, if Ryu is facing left (or West), the best DI is to also input the control stick West. This was also tested on every character (compared to ALL other DI inputs) and was found to be true.

P.S. The list is in a A-Z order. I suggest you use CTRL+F to find the character that you need.

Yo I suggest you put this in a table so it's easier to sort through, so you can sort via kill percentages or alphabetical order or whatever.

[ table=head ]Character | Battlefield | Final Destination | Town and City
Fox | 83% | 78% | 75
[ /table ]

Just get rid of the spaces in the BB code tags and add the rest of the characters etc.

Good research #domDI

Character | Battlefield | Final Destination | Town and City
Fox :4fox: | 83% | 78% | 75%

UPDATE:

I'll be getting :4corrinf: and :4bayonetta: the moment they drop so the TSRK kill percentages will be up on release day. Also, this is preeetty useful for everyone so maybe it could be something that is a pinned post. Juuuust a suggestion.

UPDATE 2: Hey everyone! Both :4bayonetta: and :4corrinf: have been added to the table. Furthermore, the kill percents for :4sheik:, :rosalina: and :4zss: were updated due to their weight nerf. They were reduced by 1%, pretty insignificant.

Interestingly, the weight buffs to :4ganondorf: and :4kirby: were literally useless. They die at the exact same percent before the release of the 1.1.4 patch.

EDIT: FINALLY got around to doing :4sonic:'s kill percent with the weight nerf. We kill him 1% earlier with TSRK now.

Was this held TSRK? The kill percents seem to be bigger than usual

Yes, of course. Every kill percentage was tested multiple times on every single character.

The total work was ~5 hours and I specifically mentioned that rage was a huge factor in how early TSRK kills. As was outlined, 100% rage allows you to kill ~15% earlier than normal. 150% rage allows you to kill ~25% earlier than normal, which is for Ryu players everywhere considering he's so heavy.

UPDATE 3: With the crazy addition of Patch 1.1.5, there came some weight buffs and nerfs!

:4sheik: was nerfed where :4bowser:, :4charizard: and :4mewtwo: were all buffed.

Through the thorough testing on the legal stages provided, there were only minor differences, literally just 1% either side for all 4 characters!

Very interesting stuff and hope you guys all enjoy.

Those battlefield kill percents look insanely high to me, I don't get why it's considered a good stage for Ryu, I would much rather go to T&C or Dreamland, because my region's ruleset only has 1 ban and people will ban T&C against u

Yeah the percent differences look big until you realise we do 15% on ONE F-Air, 16% on ONE B-Air and our BnBs do like ~25% each.

The movement options we gain around the stage are WAY too good to pass up. Furthermore, we can do so much platform-based stuff, from jab locks to frame traps, that it makes it our best stage.

I would still have to say T&C is a bit better, but I do see the argument for BF being good, I have a weird thing where if I learn something new, for example I learned nair->dair yesterday, I get worse at the things I already know, I've been progressively getting worse and worse at utilt->TSRK by playing and learning more. There's just something really wrong with me I guess and this may sound ridiculous to some people, but that's just what happens for me.

...hmm? usinge FD for testing the base percents is better, although OP went the extra mile for other stages. Granted T.SRK kills off the top so only stages with higher/lower ceilings will matter but yeah you shouldn't only use data from Ryu's best stage since the percents would all have to be higher in other stages. Using those percents gives you a decent idea of where to go from there.

Actually I think Battlefield is the only legal stage here that has a higher ceiling, FD is a regular ceiling and T&C is a low ceiling, but otherwise all the top blastzones are the same as FD except omega Palutena and Halberd, we don't have regular Halberd or Delfino or any of those "cheese" stages here where I live

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that training mode has weird characteristics, certain moves have less damage and/or knockback in it. M2K suggests testing by using a second controller and infinite time instead. I'll see if I can find a link to his video
