Hey, I've been wanting to use some creativeness of mine and create my own pokemon game. I did some research (poor research kinda), and learned about a program called RPG Maker. I have seen various Pokemon game starter kits for RPG Maker XP Edition, but that is the problem. I do not have teh luxury of XP. i have Vista. I have XP as a home/family computer but can't use it now that I have internet on my own laptop, wich is Vista. I want to buy RPG Maker VX, but don't want to waste $60 if I won't be able to download a pokemn starter kit for it. And XP starter kits, I hear, do NOT work on RPG VX. So if any one has any information on this or links to Pokemon Starter Kits compatible with RPG MAKER VX....VX... Feel free to show me! Please and Thankyou ;)

RPG Maker is a very easy-to-use program. I worked with the trial version earlier this year just for kicks, and I had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I've never heard of these Pokemon graphic starter kits, so I can't help you there. If I find anything out, I'll let you know immediately.

Ok thankyou! Well like on youtube I saw videos of 'pokemon starter kits'. I have no idea how to make a pokemon game, and I figure dtaht a starter kit would give you the essentials--like pkmn sprites, trainer sprites, and what not.

I want to buy tehprogram, but I also want to be able to have the right resources available to make a pokemon game right of the bat.

Um...

You can just download a bunch of Pokemon sprites off the internet and plug those into your game. RPG maker allows you to plug those pictures directly into your game, I think.

If you don't even know what a sprite sheet is then you're definately far behind.

How encouraging...
You can download a cracked version to SEE if it works, then if it does to avoid the legal issues and to be an honest human being you can buy it. That way you don't miss out on anything if it fails and you're hardly doing anything immoral.

Everyone has to start somewhere. There are forums for RPG Maker, people there generally know what they're talking about and will be able to help you with sprites, events, scripts and stuff. Just google around a bit and yeh...

Resources? I doubt they'd be hard to make if you can't find em. Get the sprites from pe2k and then just throw em in RPG Maker, resize em if ya have to.
Just throw em over a monster already in RPG Maker and save it as w/e lol.
For the characters, I looked around a little, but couldn't find anything :/ Just get a template and sprite over it yourself, or copy, paste a sprite from a pokemon rom and resize it for the templates. Templates should be easy to find.
For the Tilesets. You want Pokemon maps do you? I have no idea...never chaned tilesets when I mucked around on RPG Maker lol

I remember a small tutorial for a Pokemon box system a while ago. It was for RPG Maker 2000...sorta old lol. So there is stuff for it around.

hmmm so all I hve to do is copy and paste the sprites? Well thatwould make everything a whole lot easier lol--Well hmmm... maybe if you can chanage the sprites I could just make the ones used a bit more pokemon-ish? hmmmm....

Well i downloaded a pkmn starter kit for XP about a week ago.... But It didn't work on vista--bt it did have pkmn tilesets and charactrers and everything.. so I'm trying to find one for xp, but it has 'eluded' me hehe

So I should just google pokemon sprites? Or download a ROM and take the sprites out of that?--I didnt' know you could mess with roms like that

EDIT: k, so I found a great (I think) sprite resource, but I'm not sure how I would import them to rpg maker? Are sprite tablets supposed to have all the sprits as one picture or whatever? I'll let you see for yourself, here' the link:
http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/pokemon/pkmndp/

Edit (again): I downloaded a trial version of Rpg VX, but I'm not sure how I import graphics?? If anyone knows how to do this, please help!!! I'm not sure where 2 get the graphics asa well!

I don't know anything about a "starter kit" for RPG Maker, but if you want sprites, the best site for any and all sprites is The Spriter's Resource. They have sprites from every Pokemon game and tons of other games, so...yeah. And you won't have to save every Pokemon sprite separately--they're all in sheets, so you save one sheet (by the way, they have each animation and male/female sprites) and get all 493 Pokemon. I use it for 90% of my sprites.

Yes, I've found that site....
If you don't know what I mean by starter kit google poccil's starter kit--the only problem with that is the scripting ithas only works on XP--sprites from it work however--

And yea i'm very unexperienced with rpg maker and am not learning how to do it through experimentation (i haven't tried doing much though)
