Calling it now, not being a meme kid (not trying to be, anyway), I think Roy is a contender for "scary pick" in Ultimate. Whether that means high tier or beyond is yet to be seen, but I'm optimistic. In the gameplay I'm seeing, Roy seems to be able to stick to opponents like glue. His ability to choke out his opponents for an opening is twice that what it was in Smash4. The sweetspots on his aerials actually kill at relevant %, the absolute nullification on his aerials, too, improves his approach tremendously. Probably too early to be giving this kind of speculation, but it seems like Ultimate has given Roy the treatment he needed to finally be a threat at all levels of play.

Despite a lot of factors in those matches, it's clear that the mechanic and movement changes in Ultimate benefit Roy massively, not to mention the numerous buffs he's received. I predict he'll be a threat in the early life of Ultimate.
