Marth was a completely random day I believe. Many people think Peach was announced the anniversary of SMB, but it was a day off. Maybe coincidental, maybe not, but I generally assume it was just a coincidence.

Hmmmm...this whole thing makes me wonder if I should make a moveset for Tiki, and would I use younger Tiki or Awakening Tiki?

I'd go for younger Tiki personally, due to being her more "iconic"(for lack of a better word) appearance. What with it having been used in more games and inspiring the "young girl manakete" archetype(see also: Fa, Myrrh, Nowi)

She/it could end up like that. But if her/its moveset was accurate to Metroid Prime 2 and 3, then she'll have enough to work with to be made her own character.

That's rather simple really, as his specials are slashes built in with gimmicks, like combos with Dancing Blade, piercing powerful attacks like Shield Breaker, and a super-fast rising slash in Dolphin Slash (I wonder if it's called the Dolphin Slash as a nod to the Gamecube). All you need to do is add an effect/power-up to the specials and they stand out from the normals.
