ROB and game & watch

now i will not say if the 35 roster is real or not, i can't know.
most people seem to think it's fake now, due to ROB not making sense, as well as things like no ridley and no krystal

i'd like the make one last post FOR the 35 roster to keep you thinking (i've posted against it too, doing this doesn't mean i think it's real, just that it's worth thinking about)


if before melee was released, i had told you that they created a G&W character, would you have believed me? you might think you would since you are used to the idea of him after 8 years, but do you really think you wouldn't have just gone "he doesn't make any sense, sakurai would have chosen <insert character that didn't get into melee (wario or something)>"


is rob so unbelievable as a WTF character that he's perfect for it?

See, the thing is, that Mr. Game & Watch had the honor of being Nintendo's VERY FIRST Video Game character to ever exist, predating the Nintendo Entertainment System & original Game Boy.

That's something over R.O.B., in my humble eyes.

I would have a very difficult time getting a grasp of the idea before Melee was released, but it's also not something impossible. Unlike R.O.B., who was debunked by the Subspace Emmisary tropy collecting and R.O.B. 64 being a trophy to collect outside of classic settings with the Trophy Shooter.

In all truth, I'd leave Game & Watch in the air. R.O.B., however, is shut down.

Does R.O.B. have the distinction of being, as spindash said, Nintendo's very first video game character? No, but G&W does. Does R.O.B. serve as a tribute to his late creator? No, but G&W does. Were both R.O.B.s already basically debunked for the reasons spindash mentioned? Yes, but G&W wasn't.

The two really aren't comparable. There's a difference between a completely surprising character addition and a completely stupid character addition. R.O.B. would easily fall into the latter, especially if he was included over some of the remaining fan faves.

Mr G&W is a hilarious idea, WTF in the best possible way, a true enigma character. What's ROB? He's meant to be heard of, but noone will have heard of him, he doesn't fill the WTF criteria except for "That's only WTF because I expected so much better...."

Dude . . . its ROB. The end. Now for reals, I consider myself an old Star Fox vet/expert (got all gold metals on hard-mode on the 64) and Rob is a horrible choice for a character. Can you imagine a team of people slaving away on making Rob?!? With no Krystal? We shouldn't even be talking about this crap.

In a way, ROB's already had a WTF role before in Mario Kart DS where he was an unlockable racer. With that said, ROB couldn't truely be an out of the blue character ESPECIALLY when "he" appears early on in the SSE. Besides, ROB may have the noglastia factor but his impact on Nintendo has been trivial at best so it's laughable to compare him with Mr. Game and Watch.

That's true, Krystal is defiently in it, even if she's just an assistant. The woman who does the voice of Krytal even put on her site, to confirm this.

As for ROB, he won't be playable from what I can see. That image is a fake for starters and he wouldn't suit the game at all.

I believe Sakurai would of chosen a different WTF character then ROB. WHY? Because ROB is a generic enemy in subspace. if he wasn't.. I would believe it.

That or the roster is fake. What do we have, less than ten days until the game is released in Japan? Get a grip, everyone, and ignore it until the actual game comes out.
