Yeah, I like to make a bunch of teams with one type as a theme for fun and see how they work out. This one actually managed to win me some battles over the wii. And btw, I refuse to use legends even though I know they would make this team work a lot better so dont suggest those.

Starmie @ Petaya Berry
Natural Cure
Timid
EVs: 252 Sp Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Sp Def
_________________________
Surf
Psychic
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt

Lead; Special Sweeper. Self explanatory.

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Torrent
Calm
EVs: 252 Sp Def, 252 HP, 4 Sp Atk
_________________________
Surf
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
Grass Knot

Support/Special Wall; Serebii's creation and it works fairly decently.

Gyarados @ Salac berry
Intimidate
Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Sp Def
_________________________
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Return

Physical sweeper; again self explanatory.

Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Water Absorb
Calm
EVs: 252 Hp, 176 Def, 82 Sp Def
_________________________
Surf
Haze
Toxic
Wish

Hazer; Wish can be used to heal Gyarados or Starmie.

Milotic @ Leftovers
Marvel Scale
Bold
EVs: 252 Def, 106 Sp Atk, 56 Sp Def, 12 Spd
__________________________
Surf
Ice Beam
Recover
Hypnosis

Double Wall; Pretty much same as my other Milotic only this one has Hypnosis.

Swampert @ Chesto Berry
Torrent
Impish
EVs: 252 Sp Def, 176 Def, 82 Atk
_________________________
Curse
Rest
Earthquake
Stone Edge

Cursing Swampert. Again, self explanatory.

So there it is. Just wanted to see what everyone thought about this one. The closest I could get to a functioning, only water pokemon team. It was fun :)

Looks good. You might want to consider Recover over Psychic.

I'd use Life Orb. I guess Return works.

As you should know, you have a Grass and Electric weakness, but Swampert handles Electric while Gyarados and Empoleon handle Grass, so you're OK.

it looks nice but why don't you use rain dance? it would benefit your whole team and cancel the effects of sandstream or sunny day. ludicolo would be a nice addition.

and do teams like this really work? huge grass/electric weakness.

If he'd use Rain Dance, he may as well use Floatzel for a physical sweeper and Kingdra for a special sweeper. Both Pokemon have reasonable attacking stats and have Swift Swim, doubling their Speed in the rain.

Yeah, I did consider those. Just outta water types there's LOADS to choose from compared to some of the other types out there and most of them are pretty versatile. This is the first team I put together that functioned so of course other variations are possible.

I like the idea. Rain Dancin, Thundering Lanturn would be quite nice. Maybe a Flotzel baton passer too?

Well, a mixed sweeper infernape can at least 2hko everyone on your team, and is only really countered by Starmie. Just thought I'd point that out.

:yoshi: I don't suggest Rain Dance for this team because...

...nobody uses Thunder, nobody uses the rain for speed or recovery, and because Gengars with Wide Lens and Thunder (because of Focus Blast being part of their moveset, too), are actually becoming scarily common.

First thing I can spot is that leading with Starmie is pretty risky. Primarily, if they lead with Pursuit Weavile or Tyranitar, you're done. End of story. Also, not only does it give away your "nasty surprise" that you want to save for mid-match or emergencies, but if you have to switch (and a lot of times you will), then after about one more switch after that, your opponent will basically see the "water team" strat and bring out their HPgrass Magnezone/Jolteon to come clean you up. **sigh** Starmie needs Focus Blast. :_: Anyway, I honestly suggest leading with Empoleon, as I've found that I've almost NEVER had to switch him out of another lead unless I'm at a totally blatant disadvantage. Also, it lets you set up Stealth Rock sooner. Aside from its obvious advantages, setting up Stealth Rock with your lead stops Yanmega, Ninjask, and a few others from ever coming back in, so they will stay in (knowing that if they switch out and try to come in later, it's a free KO for you) and it'll eventually be a free KO for you ANYWAY, so it's too good.

I do suggest either getting rid of one of Starmie's attacks and replacing it with Recover, but keep in mind that you won't be using the move too often, as you'll more than likely want to use your other moves to quickly rid yourself of enemy opposition, but it's useful against stallers. I would say keep Psychic because you have nothing to really stop Dynamicpunch Machamp and Heracross, and they hit really hard. Thunderbolt is pretty easy to see coming from a Starmie, so you MIGHT consider ridding yourself of that if you want (it makes free switchins for Electivire [even though nobody falls for Motor Drive setups anymore] and ground types or Jolteon). Petaya Berry is an interesting choice--I'd be interested to see how well you do with that.

As for Gyarados, Return is alright, but you may want to consider Waterfall (yeah, pretty standard) for its flinch chances. Return is also resisted by two types and completely blocked by another, while Waterfall is resisted by three types and not blocked by any. You may even want Ice Fang, but it depends on how many ground and dragon types you run into. Salac Berry's not bad considering all the leftovers placed elsewhere on the team. Even though Life Orb is a good suggestion, I'm not making it for this Gyarados because of its EV spread (I'll get to that later).

Vaporeon should be Bold. He's got good enough special defense as it is, unless you want Swampert to tank for you a little bit, too. Trust me, with this team, you'll need something that can switch into hard hitters and Vaporeon can do it like a champ if you need him to.

Milotic seems pretty alright. Maybe get rid of one of her moves for Reflect or Light Screen? To be honest, I'm not sure if she can learn them, but even though you have all these defensive pkmn an your team, it seems like there's a missing defensive niche--I dunno, maybe it's just me.

Swampert just seems...hmmm, I dunno. You honestly might want to drop a Cursing Swampert for Mirror Coat Swampert. With the right investment, he can survive Energy Balls from Gengar, Ludicolo, and Azelf (common switch-ins) and send it right back. Why am I sugesting Mirror Coat? Well, it saves you in a pinch and there's also something else I'll tell you...

This team has weaknesses, as I'm sure you're aware. Three things completely shut this team down, though. One of them is HP grass Jolteon/Magnezone, as I'd explained earlier. The second is Substitute/Leech Seed/Dragon Pulse/Leaf Storm Sceptile. He outruns Starmie (and, by proxy, everything else here) and will OHKO everything here (probably not Empoleon, he might get Gyarados, but opposing Stealth Rock + Leech Seed and other factors may guarantee a OHKO). The last thing (as dumb as this sounds) is an opposing water team. You have Grass Knot on Empoleon. GG if they take him out. Starmie can only last for so long and opposing Tentacruel Mirror Coat her nasty. You can and most likely will draw most, if not all, of your loses from one of these three factors.

Finally (wow, this got real long), you want to work on these EV spreads. The last three have some thought (or they were at least copied from somewhere), but 252/252/6 spreads are generally unnecessary for things not named Starmie. It's just a suggestion, not saying they won't work, but just think about it. Do some calculations to see who outruns who or who survives how much of what and then make your spreads. Or, just be super lazy and copy from Smogon or somewhere.

But yeah, overall nice team. It would be interesting to see how the different members interact with each other and bring out their teamwork, so I hope you do well. ^_^
