Rival Mode Multi-Man Smash

Why is this not a multiplayer mode?
What prevents this from being a multiplayer mode? Have the other player be the rival.
Most Mii kills in a set time period wins. Add in some stocks if you want. Why not? We can keep that coin mode but not this apparently.

I think the reason for why Rival Smash is a solo only mode is because the rival is supposed to be a hard CPU player, while the Fighting Miis are exclusive to Multi-Man Smash.

My issue is why is the rival supposed to be a hard CPU player? So they can give achievements for it? Just limit it to the Solo modes.
