According to Mewtwo2000 on his Youtube channel, if you use the axnextframe hook it won't freeze, but I've yet to test it myself.

Whenever the game loads in regular match offline after the counting, the game freezes followed by a buzzing type noise. I've tried almost all of the hooks and extracted all folders from the root my sdhc card but it won't load. Btw I am using riivolution 1.04. Thanks in advance.

And you don't have any custom hacks (textures, etc.), and placed Daakun's files exactly as they were in the download? Make sure there is only one .xml file in the Riivolution folder also. (VI hook is the one that I use, and I have Riivo 1.4, fyi).

Okay, so I've been working with this a couple of days now. After I started having issues, I backed up my 4GB card and reformatted it. Then, I unzipped the "Homebrew" folder onto the root and added the 4z Riivolution file to the root as well. In the riivolution channel, nothing loaded besides ssbBrawl, no mods.

So I added the brawlmods and riivolution folders from my backed up root. This allowed me to start the game, and select a character to begin. However, when i selected a stage, the red "ready to fight" appears, the screen goes dark, and the game freezes and stops reading the disc. Can you help me figure this out, and is there anything I can do to get more helpful information?

Yes! Downloading now. I'm so glad somebody made this :). I really appreciate Riivolution's feature to keep a different save from vBrawl's, so I can I keep both records and scores separated. (Like how one time I used Ganondorf in Brawl- it messed up my highest damage done up to 999%. I'd had appreciated knowing about Riivolution back then.) Also different My Music settings.

If I no longer reply, that means I got it working alright and I'm too busy playing :p. Thank you Daakun!

Edit: :D Yes! Perfect! Thank you thank you!

Holy sweet cheesus, I'm glad this exists. I can never go back to using any other way other than Riivo. It feels so good organizing all my mods so they're cross-compatible. Thank you very much for this. Kinda wish this was in support or something rather than content but doesn't matter, this is great.

Eh, the Help and Support board is more for questions than just random support giving and in Customized Content it's more obvious this isn't official.
Didn't really want to step on any toes since I assume there's some real reason they decided to drop Riivolution support.

Haven't gotten any word from anyone in the PMBR the few times I asked, but I assume it's just load time issues, since Riivo is noticeably slower for Brawl than the file patch code.

Hey guys, my turn to ask what's wrong :(

So I'm running Riivo through the channel on my System Menu (v 1.2).

My copy of Brawl is an .iso on a 2TB harddrive that's plugged into a WODE JUKEBOX.

I have a 8gb SDHC with files pertinent to running .wad's on my Wii.

Back when 2.5 was all we had, I could just open Riivo and start up Project M, no worries. I recently tried to use Project M 3.0, but to no avail. Riivo still recognizes it and has cheats running, but when I start the game, I get Vanilla Brawl.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have no experience with this device, but I did find this post with a google search:
TheGuru said:
a new update that add the Riivolution compatibility is out, the firmware v2.8x

A new option "Stealth Mode" was added under the "settings->wode settings" menu

if set to [ON] the Wode is totally hidden and don't reply to any custom commands used from Wii-GUI menu like WodeFlow or similar (that include also the buil-in menu iso).
if set to [OFF] the Wode reply to custom commands and can be managed by external menu.

For Riivolution compatibility the "Stealth Mode" setting shall be set to [ON] and every iso must have the BCA data saved into the ".bca" file.

Enjoy
TG
Could try setting up whatever these BCA files are and enabling "stealth mode".

Still doesn't work... I wonder if this is because I use Brawl Mod Launcher v2.9 on my Riivo? It's an .xml file that helps run cheats and stuff more efficiently.

I downloaded it before PM 3.0 came out, so maybe it just needs to be updates with codelines for Mewtwo, Roy, etc.?

Last I checked, that launcher looks for files in brawlmods/MODNAME/whatever
This one is looking for them in the default installation path for PM 3.0, projectm/pf/whatever

Sure you didn't just dump your files to the wrong folder?

If I want to place the projectm/pf folder elsewhere, say /riivolution/SuperSmashBrosBrawl/projectm, do I simply change the XML or are there other text/binary files which reference /brawlmods/projectm?

Nevermind. I forgot to collapse the pf folder. Hours wasted. Sigh.
Code:
<snip>
    <patch id="projectm" root="/riivolution/SuperSmashBrosBrawl/projectm" >
        <memory valuefile="RSBE01{$wifi}.gct" offset="0x00570000" />
        <file external="fighter/captain/FitCaptain.pac" disc="/fighter/captain/FitCaptain.pac" />
        <file external="fighter/captain/FitCaptainMotionEtc.pac" disc="/fighter/captain/FitCaptainMotionEtc.pac" />
        <file external="fighter/dedede/FitDedede.pac" disc="/fighter/dedede/FitDedede.pac" />
</snip>
It loads now but hangs when I try to start playing (i.e. after I select my character and stage). I am running Riivolution 1.06, an 8GB card, the non Wifi GCT, and a combo of the XMLs "Launcher v2.5.1" and "Brawl" if that matters. I tried both the gxdraw (Launcher default) and VI (Brawl default) hook patches. Any ideas?

Ok so I've been trying to load this as I don't have a small enough SD Card to play normally and am too lazy to buy one. Works fine, showing the Project M screens until I get to character selection screen, where it shows only 36 slots, in brawl's order, with Mewtwo replacing the pokemon trainer. If I select a character, the announcer gives the name of the character who would be in that place with Project M's order (i.e selecting Mewtwo makes the announcer say Roy), followed by a crash. I have Riivolution 1.06, have made sure to remove other brawl xml files, and the only other files on the card are mods for MK Wii and NSMB Wii (CTGP Revolution and NewerSMBW respectively) Is it that I'm using the vWii on my Wii U that could be causing this? Need a bit of help

I got riivo working well, but is there any way to speed up the loading time? BTW, I'm using a 32 GB USB drive.

Is this compatible with the new version 3.01?

I used to use rivolution for my old project M build since I dont have an SD card, and I just came back for 3.0.

And if it is compatible, can someone point to me where I would put replacement of music ?

Not at the moment, but I'm about to start poking around and see what all needs fixed up.
From the changelog it looks like the XML is fine, but I probably need to redo the GCTs and such.

Edit: Yeah, even though the offline codeset wasn't mentioned in the changelog, something or other in there changed; the MD5 doesn't match anymore.
This support pack is dead until I finish updating it.

Edit2: Updated the pack, new link is in the first post.

If you poke around you'll notice I changed the projectmOFFLINE.gct to OFFLINEprojectm.gct; this was intentional for online/offline filename consistency, don't go renaming the things.

Nice work! Did you have to change anything in the GCT besides taking out the file patch code and the replacement soundbank engine?
Also, IIRC, the file patch code doesn't crash Riivolution if you leave it in; it just doesn't do anything. Not sure about the others.

Hey, does your Stage Expansion Pack work for this?

The only changes I made to the GCT were stripping out the file replacement code and the Replacement Sound Bank Engine.

And apparently 3.02 is now a thing, soooo I'll get to that in a bit, gonna be making/eating dinner first.

Whoops, totally forgot to post here earlier.
The GCTs didn't change for 3.02 and no new XML paths were needed, so yeah.

I did make a new version anyway that uses the new paths for the (planned) official offline/online toggle, reduces the download size on the pack a tad since I don't have to keep including two copies each of mu_menumain.pac and common5.pac.

So this would be updated as the new patches for Project M comes around, it seems...that's very comforting to know. I'll keep an eye on this thread. Thanks very much for all the help you're doing for us that use Riivo.

No guarantees they'll be timely updates though. :v
And tbh, most of what I'm doing here is pretty easy, if a tad annoying for a someone new to modding to work their way through.

hey I'm using rii 1.04. would you recommend upgrade to 1.06?
It couldn't hurt, but based on their changelogs it shouldn't matter unless you're using Wii Mode on a Wii U or for some reason not playing with a GC controller.

In the new update, there are 2 folders named "full" and "wifi". I managed to just use those files, replacing and properly renaming over your files for Riivo to work. Am I helping?

Heh, sorry, the current version of the pack looks for those files inside the 'full' and 'wifi' folders instead of supplying its own copies.
Assuming those folders stay there in future P:M versions, I won't have to keep including copies of those files at all.

Wrong link heads-up: The download link in the OP points to version 3.0 instead of the current 3.02. You can still get 3.02 by copying and pasting the link text itself, or from here (same): http://www.mediafire.com/?l7k5g755c28e34q

Also, recent brawl launcher .xmls no longer use codehandler.bin, instead including codehandler.bin's contents right in the .xml. To join the bandwagon, replace:

Code:
<memory valuefile="/riivolution/codehandler.bin" offset="0x00001800" />
with this monster:

This is used in both Brawl Mod Launcher 2.5 (or whatever it's called) and Brawl Minus Max 3.0, and it matches the contents of codehandler.bin as copied from my hex editor. I'd test it first, mind you.

And that's why WYSIWYG editors are BS. When I paste a plain text link over a plain text link, I kinda expect to replace one with the other rather than just the text inside the link that still goes to the first location. >_>
Ah well, guess that's a good reminder that I need to go in and remove that from my settings.

Fixed the link in the first post, thanks for pointing it out.

I tried using the files but Riivolution doesn't seem to recognize the Brawl.XML file. It opens fine in Notepad but if I open it using Chrome I get,

"This page contains the following errors:
error on line 4 at column 3: Encoding error
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error."

with nothing else. Any help?

EDIT: Thanks for that, cukemango. It's now working fine.

Warning: Patch version 3.02's XML file doesn't appear in Riivolution.
To anyone affected by this problem, save this as an XML file and toss it in your card's /riivolution folder:
Riivolution patch 3.02 fix
(Also has a more descriptive name so I don't confuse it with Brawl Minus Max's launcher.)

If you can't get it to save as an XML file (i.e. it got saved as a text file), then open it in Notepad and Save As with the file type as "All Files" and the filename as whatever.xml.

@ Daakun Daakun : WYSIWYG editors are even BS than you imagined. Riivolution doesn't like the latest XML file, specifically the non-breaking spaces that snuck in somehow. If it wasn't your editor, and if it wasn't something that got pasted in, then I don't know what it was. (If the editor's at fault, Notepad++ might serve you better.)

...and the thing I mentioned earlier, about ditching codehandler.bin by including it in the XML instead... well, I did it and then realized it actually uses (slightly) more file space that way. It's pointless unless a you want a single self-contained Riivolution file (for whatever reason). But it's here anyway if anyone's interested.

But... but... Notepad++ is the only editor I use... hoooow? ._.
*flips nearest table*

Edit: Re-refixed the archive. Gonna upload a second one in a bit, I figure the brsar won't change too often anyway and that's almost the entire filesize, so I might as well provide a download that doesn't keep including it.
Edit2: brsar-less download added.

Well, poop. Dunno how it happened then (hopefully it's a one-time thing). Luckily, you can detect this stuff in Notepad++.
1. Go to menu Search -> Find characters in range (at the very bottom item of the menu, if it's not there update Notepad++)
2. Choose "Non-ASCII characters (128-255)", make sure "Wrap around" is checked.
3. Keep mashing Find until it finds something bad (poop, go replace it) or nothing happens because there's nothing to find (yay, celebrate).
If you need to find specifically the non-breaking-space character, choose "My Range" instead and type in 160-160 (or 255-255 if you know it's there but 160 doesn't find anything).

I am confused here...all I did was take the files in the "wifi"/"full" And renamed them to what files the riivo uses. EX: renaming wifi folder's common5.pac to ONLINEcommon5.pac, etc.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is something missing? Everything seems to work for me. All the changes mentioned in the 3.02 patch notes are in effect.

If you mean you upgraded P:M with the same Riivolution XML and whatnot, yeah, that's fine.
3.01 to 3.02 didn't make any GCT changes.

When I changed the pack for 3.02 (not counting all my ****ups like broken links and mysterious no-break spaces I had to fix) pretty much all I did was make the XML point to those files inside the wifi/full folders so you don't need to keep downloading spares every time P:M updates.

I see now. I reorganized and downloaded your fix for it and it works great. I even have more space for stuff now, since I didn't need to make more files and rename them to ONLINEcommon5.pac and whatnot. Thanks a bunch, dood.

I might late on this but thanks for the unofficial patch! It's been great using it for months. Hopefully, someone could do an unofficial patch for 3.5.
