I know that Ridley's biggest fans are still in denial and think that Ridley still has a chance of being playable. He doesn't. And I'm glad. I have never really liked the idea of Ridley being playable, and I don't like how he's pretty much the only character people want (next to King K Rool).

I just don't think that Ridley would fit in as a playable fighter. It just wouldn't have looked right if Ridley was shrunken down. It works for Bowser, because Bowser had already shown the ability to alter his size in previous games, and has appeared smaller before. It works for Olimar, because Olimar doesn't have any other characters to compare to. Same goes for Kirby characters. Ridley is supposed to be from a semi-realistic franchise free from magical implications.

I just think he is better suited to being a boss, and I'm glad that he is one in SSB4. Don't get me wrong, I like Ridley, I just don't like him as much as some other people do.

The attempt to rub salt into a wound that hasn't appeared is just hilarious. He'll be in, Snake will be out.

Dude, Sakurai was talking about bosses, and then Ridley showed up, and was several times bigger than the other fighters. And who mentioned anything about Solid Snake?

Technically you didn't SEE Ridley

We saw his shadow though, and he appeared to be constantly flying, like how he did in Brawl. You can't say that it's a recovery move, because judging on how long he flies, it would be way too overpowered. Plus, Sakurai's not exactly one for 'teasing' characters. Since we first saw the Pyrosphere several months ago, I doubt Sakurai would continue teasing for this long, since every new character is meant to be a surprise.

HE'S NOT DECONFIRMED! Sakurai is being a major tease as usual. Why would he do that? He would have shut us down like the Waluigi supporters.

Remember how Alfredo replaces spirit track link when you play with Toon Link? How about when the boxing ring stage can change appearances? One thing's certain is that stages can change depending on the match. Now remember how Sakurai said size doesn't matter in Smash bros? Tell me that's not a direct argument to the "Ridleys too big" threads.

I'm not even the biggest Ridley supporter, Shulk is my guy. But people saying he's deconfirmed is silly to me. I will say that Palutena is almost 100% gaurenteed now, but Ridley's chances ain't lookin so bad either

Good point

.....

It's fine to still expect him. I won't jab you guys for it nor will I degrade you guys for still expecting an (in my opinion), a character that's been already ****-canned in a world wide Nintendo LIVE stream since your guys believe that this possibly is a ruse.

I was NOT degrading you there. Just my opinion

Good luck though

What the hell was the point in just showing his shadow

Surely the fact they showed just his shadow means SOMETHING

The hype train
The shadow most likely means that Ridley is in fact a stage hazard. If Ridley is playable, then the stage hazard will instead be Meta Ridley, while Ridley is playing on that stage.

It was shown on the Direct already

Not trying to rub it in but really, I'm saving you from the possible disappointment

Plus if he is (Somehow and impossibly) playable then the effect will be greater on you since it comes as a surprise and a massive clutch move (Not really clutch)

The way it was worded in the direct definitely was meant to deconfirm ridley imo. the level of denial in this thread tho...
