Okay, I'm going to ask the question flat out. I love Resident Evil. All of the games. The stories really intrigue me, they really put a lot into character development, mystery, suspense, and plot development.

Unfortunately, I

A) Lack time to play them all
B) Lack patience to find all the old ones to begin with
C) They creep me out enough to where I won't enjoy the game enough

Well there it is! I just want to know the storyline since I'm normally too tense playing these games to have too much fun.

If you would be so kind as to break it down for me for every game, the more detail the better. I'm an information junkie so go into HARDCORE detail. :D

and thanks. :)

Hm...Well I'm not entirely certain of every element of RE since it literally is a story with just one person.

So...RE 0: In time-line this occured first with main protaginists Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen. Rebecca was in the Bravo S.T.A.R.S. group that crash landed before Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine ever got to the mansion. Billy is an ex-marine that is charged with the wrongful murder of over thirty people (apparently it seemed to occur in Africa I believe but should have no relevance to the upcoming title.)
Due to circumstances Rebecca teams with Billy with the simple logic "survival first" and eventually enter the Umbrella training facility (this isn't the same one that RE 1 occurs in). The outbreak apparently first occured in this facility and due to underground connections and tunnels it reached the mansion.

Near the end that facility is destroyed and Rebecca chooses to go to the other mansion ( where Chris and Jill are headed) but before doing so she takes Billy's dog-tags and states that "offically" Billy Coen had died that day and Billy has not been seen since that and Rebecca's fate has been argued many times.

I'll try to explain more later.

Keep them going! I want to know things like why Umbrella was messing with the viruses, how the T-Virus has gotten so mutated to this point in RE5... What is going on with the characters? Etc.

Lol, there's a pretty good plot-faq on the gamefaqs RE4 board. It hasn't been updated in awhile, but it's pretty good for most of the story. I'm gonna have to go check out BlackWaltz link myself.

Yeah I've only played Re:4 and Umbrella Chronicles.. Mainly because I was too young to play the first ones.
I've always wanted to know more about the storyline and plot and theme and everything.
The characters are great and they put alot of time into making the games.
I saw the new movie they just came out with it was pretty good.
Thanks for making this thread I was thinking about making one too but you beat me to the punch xD.

Too bad Re: 5 isn't coming out for the Wii ..
Re:4 was soooo good on Wii =(

Well...for starters the live action movies are loosely based and frankly shouldn't be considered canon.

As for why Umbrella came to create the infamous T-Virus, the origin of Umbrella and the prototype virus before the T-Virus.

The Pro-generator Virus I believe it is called was the core of the T as well as G virus that were developed which the latter was manufactured by Birkins, a fellow scientist and partner of Albert Wesker (he's a totally different story) The in-depth origin is spoken and explained in RE-0 and is the fruit that Umbrella created.

I'll post more later.

I've noticed that on the latest trailer as well when Chris lays flowers upon the tombstone but I'm a tad bit hesitant to say she died.

I don't know off-hand the passage of time since Raccoon City's outbreak but Jill joined with Chris in an anti-Umbrella group that shut down the one plant in Russia (Umbrella's End in Umbrella Chronicles)

I'd be willing to assume something happened to her so she could be MIA...which would explain why Chris is teamed with the new woman in RE5

Yeah. I guess so, I had no idea who she was. For that matter I wanted to know why zombies are much smarter now and can speak and have weird things growing out of their heads when you shoot them out, kind of like tentacles or something.

They aren't zombies. They're just parasite-infected people, similar to the Gannados in RE4.

Keep in mind that RE 0 is prequel, and only actually came out after.....I can't remember between which games it came out. Either 2-3 or 3-4 I think. So yeah, it won't mess you up. On a side note, I haven't seen degeneration yet. Anyone know where I can pick up a torrent / Watch online?

RE fans agree that the storylines are just lame, and that's why I don't mind spoiling them, but please for the love of all that is good in the world do not spoil Bioshock! It is without a doubt one of the best games of all time, and the story is arguably the best part! Seriously, I love RE4, but Bioshock is like 10 times better! Do yourself a massive favor and play the game.

Yes, I love Bioshock that much..........

Just to through it out there, if you want a quick recap of the story play "The Umbrella Chronicles". It's a pretty easy get to get through and give a lot of details.

And I must say that Jill did look rather sickly at the end of "The Umbrella Chronicles".

What do you mean it is easy to get through?
It's a lightgun shooter type game. It's really easy to beat compared to other RE's because you don't have to collect items and organize inventories and ****. Just straight up shooting.

A little bit yeah but you select secondary weapons like a machine gun or a shot gun before you begin a chapter and you follow a set course except for times when you choose to go left or right.

In terms of difficulty its pretty simple especially if you go wii-mote plus nunchuck on the wii zapper setting since you reload by shaking the nunchuck instead of the wii-mote.

Trust me, auto shottie tears through bosses like no tommorrow. And co-op can be fun if your partner doesn't messup QTE since you share the same health.

Well I could give you as much advice as the next guy but its better that you just play it and get a feel for the game yourself.

Really House of the Dead 2 is more difficult since health is so valuable and you only have your trusty handgun. RE:UC is enjoyable with a partner as long as you both know how to do the Quick Time Events (QTE) so you don't lose health for that reason.

There's like a website already out there that ties all the RE story lines together. I forget the link but nce I get it I'll post it.

Resident Evil is the ****.

Umbrella cronicles fills a lot of plot holes. Between Ada and Weasker. It's all fun and it gives great information top the series. Haha

BTW, anyone else think the problems with RE5 were as follows?:

1.) Dialog sucked compared to RE4. Like, omg, Salazar was so much cooler (quotes like, "sagacious as I am.." and just me and my friends generally immitating him all the time were too good) and more memorable than Irving, whom is ******** near as I can tell. Plus Sheeva and Chris' banter wasn't nearly as good as Leon's like 2 lines in RE4 and people though Leon was lame then, heh, but now everyone I've talked to thinks Leon is mad interesting after playing RE5.

2.) No puzzles? Where were the puzzles? Like even RE4 still had a touch of it, I was feelin pretty mentally psyched on launch night with RE5 and I kinda wanted to have to figure something out, but was never given the chance, plus puzzles in games like RE1 just increased the ambiance of the situation.

3.) It got a little to "action game/movie" for me, much like the problems facing the RE movies (they try to make them into action movies, when in all actuality the story line/speed of REmake would have made a better movie than that crap they threw at us trying to get an action movie out of the franchise..)

4.) Story line as a whole was honestly not that good (for RE5 specifically of course). I don't care how grizzly of a RE fan you are, you have to agree with me deep down on this one..

5.) Where the heck did the mine thrower go? Do you have any idea how fun it was to mess around with that thing in RE4 (like sticking chickens in the face and what not)? Though I admit that the stun rod is legendary..

now the co-op was really good and cool, and sure it does make it more fun that RE4 to me because of that, that's like such a cheap (though obviously I'm really glad they did it) way to make a game awesome, I'm just saying that people often immediately focus on that when they say RE5 was better than RE4 when RE4 was just clearly more attractive.

On Gamefaqs, a guy named President Evil made a lengthy resident evil storyline faq that would answer all of your questions.
