The only ones that will be leaving are Marth, Roy, Doc, Pichu, and Young Link.
Some may be replaced, (Marth->Ike) some may not.
Whatever happens, I want those five to be gone.

Pichu -> Plusle & Minun
No. A more unique character should take Pichu's spot. No more electric rats!

Anyways I think some should be modified (like Ganondorf) and others should be dropped (like Dr. Mario and Pichu.)

Modified:
Ganondorf
Falco
Young Link (maybe... really I don't want them to simply change his visual design to WW's though, that would still be a waste of a spot. He needs a new moveset.)

Dropped:
Dr. Mario
Pichu
Roy (I liked him, but Ike pretty much took his spot I'd say.)

WW Link would be a better choice than Y. Link, as he represents the franchise's other direction, where Y. Link doesn't.

And I know that Falco is popular, but people are really overestemating his chances. He's just another clone, after all. >_>

I actually think that making a WW stage would be the best way to rep Wind Waker.

I fear that a WW Link would just be another clone, and most of the movesets I've seen haven't convinced me otherwise.

Seeing as this topic is about what "should" be I'm not really taking chances into account. Still I'm pretty confident that Dr. Mario and Pichu will be the absolute first to go.

Falco is a popular character as you admitted, and is arguably the second most important Star Fox character, I'm sure Sakurai could make him a nice new moveset.

Change moveset:
Ganondorf
Falco

Replace:
Pichu (Lucario)
Dr Mario (Geno, Paper Mario w/ different moveset, I dont know)
Roy (Ike) (why in the world are people keep saying Marth?! ò_õ Roy sounds a lot more logical)
YLink (WW Link)

And how would Young Link not be a clone as well? The thing is, is that many movesets can be made for Link due to the variety of weapons and items he's gained over the years. If you're not getting an original moveset, then you're not looking hard enough, really.

And the thing with Falco, is that while it's true that he could make another moveset, the thing is, is that he'll have to make a choice there. That choice is between him and Wolf. It's actually much harder than it looks to create a new moveset that doesn't clone Fox's moves already. (One is hard enough, two is even harder, let me tell ya)

Well the thing is I'm questioning whether another Link should be in or not (which is why I said "Maybe" on my earlier post.)

I don't know about it, though... The idea of another Link is just kind of "Meh. Give another character the position."

I'd like to see a good moveset, BTW.

But as I said Falco is arguably the second most important character in the Star Fox series.

Besides, Sakurai created a moveset from scratch for Fox, didn't he? Why couldn't he do it for Falco? I haven't played any of the Star Fox games, I'll admit, but I'm pretty sure he could pull something from the one on the GCN at least.

P&M are unique. There a tag team. Sure there electric rats but could potentially be way different.
I'd be pissed if they made it in.

Luckily I don't think Sakurai is that crazy.

A tag team of Pikachu's? Meh.

I've made an original WW moveset, but only for B moves. Whether you would think it is good is unkown, but it's back in the WW thread.

And Sakurai had to create it from scratch because Starfox is not the type of game where the pilolets come out and fight. He just used standard futuristic type attacks that didn't mess around with the character that much. I like to make movesets, and let me tell you it's very hard not to take borrow Fox's moves for either Falco or Wolf. The GCN games also havn't helped much for teaching them anything new.

And even if Falco got a new moveset, wouldn't it just allieanate his old fans who got used to his old moveset?

How do you know that Sakurai couldn't make a new moveset?

People are going to be alienated, it's simple. Sakurai has already stated that some are not returning, which will alienate users of the characters that won't return.

Still I hope the characters that don't return are limited to this list:
Dr. Mario
Pichu
Roy
Young Link

why him? and not hitmonlee?
Hitmonlee was a generic fighting Pokemon was he not? Nothing really special there.

Besides Lucario is really popular.

I don't care if he gets in, personally.

Lucario?

No way. No Pokemon will ever be as popular as Pikachu, I assure you of that... Not even his clones Plusle and Minum.
