Relevant Costume Changes

Hey guys i'm new here, just incase you couldn't tell I like to main with my boy Mario.

Had a Smash day with my friend and he asked me why Mario had a green costume and a black one instead of something like the Tanooki suit or something he's actually seen wearing in his canon games. So this got me thinking, what other characters could do with actual costumes?

Costumes that change a character into a different one (Ness/Lucas or Marth/Roy) can easily anger the fans of the latter characters, so they have to tread carefully there.

Young Link's size and proportions are too different from both Adult and Toon Link to work as costume.

Others can be made to work.

The super leaf turns Mario into a Tanooki (Racoon) but it turns Luigi into a Kitsune (Fox)

Just another "I DON'T LIKE THAT THESE DUMB OUTFITS WEREN'T ADDED SO I'M GONNA POST THEM".

I mean, it gets kinda annoyin, especially when you have Greninja's shiny palette as a costume even though it's be the definition of a pointless addition since there's already the black Greninja palette which has very few differences and suddenly it'd be impossible to tell the two apart.

How come the one skimpy male outfit is equivalent to all of the female characters wearing skimpy outfits?
Samus has her shorts, Shulk has his, it's balanced as it is.
