Probably sleeping or in school.. but always in GA
Ok, forgive me if this seems obvious..
If you are playing a falco and you are fox, why don't you just use shine as a rflector? I have seen about a million videos of foxes running at shl-ing falcos and they just try to jump over the lasers, even when they aren't trying to advance. If you reflect it, doesn't it do like 5 or 4 percent? So why don't people do this? I mean, the lag is really not a big deal.

And does anyone actually do this? Besides me, even though I rarely play human falcos..

Fox shine as a reflector should be used as a counter against any campy character

The lag really is a big deal, because the Falco doesn't have any lag from firing the laser, and will probably jump over the reflected one. Meaning he gets a free hit on you. And a free hit from a Falco on another space animal usually turns into 40% damage or a full stock very quickly

QFT

But you can mess around and mindgame with it, but still, is too risky

thats true but also, if they sit there and reflector back, it can break your sheild cuz you get trapped in it. this depends on spacing though

The lag simply isn't worth it.

I have seen some pros Sh shine, then Dj and continue approaching. It stops falco's flow, and keeps you relatively safe. Being pinned on the ground against a Falco isn't really a good idea.

Not possible. The laser disappears after about 6 seconds, even if reflected back and forth by fox or falco's reflector. There's only one thing in the game that can break the shine "shield" and that's the Great Fox's laser cannons.

Nah, Falco's laser can lock you in the shine until it breaks if the two of you are close enough, I've seen it happen. The only problem is, it's really hard to predict which shine will break first, so you could end up screwing yourself over >_<

Its dependant on how many times the laser is reflected. Like when you throw a red shell between two foxes standing really close together. The damage the red shell does gets multiplied and eventually breaks one of their shines. The red shell will continue on to do something like 50-60 damage per hit.

Same concept with the lasers. If reflected enough, they'll break your shine. Its highly unlikely that could happen in a 1 on 1 though.

i think it's been mentioned, but if not.

if a falco times the SHL correctly, they can continue to shoot you while you're in the lag frames of the shine, so you can get punished.

so just go around platforms dodging lasers, and play more of a platform game with falcos.

No, he was being serious. Say you can powershield 1/2 times. This means an approaching falco will become scared to SHL. If they are running at you with laser- > dair, once they get hit by their own laser, they'll dsmash instead of dair by accident, you'll run in with a falling uair, chaingrab to like 60%, uthrow, then either usmash or bair them off the stage. Once Falco is off the stage, well, yeah.

JUST BECAUSE YOU POWERSHIELDED A LASER! WOW!

I think the reflector is alright against peach's turnips. It sends the turnips in an upwards arch, and can kinda limit her approach if they don't expect it. They can just regrab the turnip though. Personally though, I never like to use the reflector.

The trick to powershielding is not simply doing it, but approaching with it. When I play falco I don't give a **** if people powershield on the otherside of the stage, it's when they run up into my face and powershield that I decide to be more careful about lasering.

Powershielding Falco's laser is actually easier than most think it is.

It doesn't travel through the air as fast as Fox's laser, and is easy to follow with your eyes. It'll only take a decent smasher a few days to get down a "1/2" consistancy level with powershielding falco's lasers.

What's really annoying is when a Fox/Marth has mastered powershielding while running so that any laser that is reflected = grab = death :(

oh wait...wtf? This isn't the Falco boards? >_>
