Reddit tier list unreliable?

I notice that having the public voting is just kind of unreliable, does anyone else feel having the public vote is unreliable.

It is absolutely unreliable. Public voting skews results in favour of what's popular at the time and is based more so on perception rather than results or matchups.

It's generally frowned upon to cite examples from community-voted tier lists, be it from Reddit, Eventhubs or even the unofficial Smashboards one, since they don't tend to be good representations of character viability. I'd say it's too early to even construct an official tier list, since the game is just over a year old and is still being updated regularly.
