Tink does this sometimes/a lot. I always thought it was stupid.

Pros:
bair is slightly longer/more priority
better knockback and angle (for stage spiking)

Cons:
Laggier
Slower Start up
Lose a little momentum by holding back when SideBing
Can't sweetspot with your jump if given the opportunity

Mostly i consider it a mixup that is good if the opponent hasn't seen it before or to confuse them, but nothing more. For example, if i see you start it i could just get off the edge and wait for you to upb and time a wavedash for an invincible edgehog or lightshield edgehog and theres not much you could do about it.

if you can make it that close to the stage, you would be in much better position to just grab the edge with your jump.

Also, i'm pretty sure when lightshielding at the edge like that, if you hit the shield with any move it sends them to the edge. now they edgehog you.

I say only do this to someone who jumps out to gimp you and if they wiff, forward b in their direction and if you hit them near you jump dair...it should gimp the balls off them if they don't expect the reverse **** push you just dealt them.

ya its definetly sneaky, and i want magus to see how much distance you lose on it. Although im still confused on sveets points because hes making it extremely in the realms of only one scenario which is being underneath. Which is not always the case

well, i always approach the edge from slightly below. If you go onto the stage from above, you really have no move to defend from below. If you turn around off stage, you will have to upb unless you jump bair well above the stage (height wise) because the only other way back to the stage for marth is through the edge, and you can't grab with your jump backwards.

like sveet said, if u just bair the light shield, it'll put them on the ledge.

fox players will most likely just shine right away, and other chars have a lot of options whether u upB right away or try a sweetspot.

regardless, the options given to u to safely recover is lessened by turning around.

and again, what sveet said, recovering from above the ledge just gets marth *****. marth needs to stay under the ledge level while recovering to be safe. hence, if u turn around u're limiting ur options.
