Recording SSBM matches?

Me and my brother have been trying to record our SSBM matches so that we could make a combo video but when ever we run our game cube through our dvd player (we have tried both of our dvd players) we get button lag and no-one can play with button lag. Any advice on how to get rid of the lag or what brands/models of dvd players or what ever they use at tournaments?
Any advice would be great help and would using our wii instead of game cube make any difference?

you could get a splitter and run one side to the tv and the other to the dvd player.

But one end goes into the tv and other goes into dvd player isnt there a third cord that does into a camera or something? Also will his method have any lag and could you just get splitters at any electronic store?

Yeah, I have seen them at radio shack.

Here are things i have seen:

1.) Some TV's have output jacks where you can output the signal to something else. This is the best way cause the input has no lag.

2.) I have a splitter, or if you want to get technical, a digital video amplifier. This takes the input from the cube wii and outputs multiple copies of the signal. I have never had lag problems with this. Comes in handy of you want to have a projector set up or want to show the same match on more than one tv.

3.) Some computer capture devices have output. Send the signal to the device. Send the output to the TV. Scar records with this and his setup is lag free.
