I've noticed that there has been a large influx of spam threads, most of which make no sense or are about some random news article with links to possible viruses through the form of supposed "movie sites".
Is there a way we can change how posts are made to combat this? EG: Captcha for registering/posting/logging in.
There are 5 of these posts on the front page as of this post.
Offenders usernames are:
namo6297
mary hogga
agli loo
Robert Lord
ichard rwallerh

All of these accounts have only one post each. I'd just report the threads, but I feel it would be more efficient to make a thread detailing whats happening.

EDIT: Fixed misspelling of movie, clarification.

I've noticed this too. I'm not sure how smashboards handles bans, whether it's IP or account based. If an IP ban could be placed, it might knock out a good chunk of the spammers.

I just think we need a more active moderation for the Project M boards.

I'd agree, I've seen mods post maybe....2-3 times since I've joined? It's just kinda annoying to have to avoid the junk to get to the good bits.

Captchas could be an idea, I've also seen forums where you couldn't post threads for a week after registering and it solved that problem too

Yeah, hopefully we can get these handled. The mods do their best to remove the threads.

It's crucial that we report them, and do not respond. The mods are doing what they can, rest assured.

this. just report the post, type "spam" for the reason, and the post is removed in minutes, as long as it's not some weird late night spamfest.

I've had it too but yes just report it, it's the easiest way for us to get them.

As has been said, it generally takes us just a couple of minutes to respond to this. It's annoying, but it's a site-wide issue that's being worked on.
